The National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students is a national event for college students sponsored by the Teaching Steering Committee of Materials Majors in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education. The purpose of the competition is to Promote Colleges and universities to strengthen the training of students' basic experimental skills and guide students to pay attention to the training of basic experimental skills. During the competition, contestants need to complete grinding, polishing, corrosion and microscopic observation within 30 minutes.
In order to prepare for this competition, the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information of our university has organized the mobilization and training for the competition since mid April 2021, and held the university-level competition on May 20 with 52 participants. After several rounds of selection, five students stood out and participated in the provincial competition held in Wuhan University of Technology in mid-July, and finally three students entered the national competition. After selection layer by layer and lasting training, the students' psychological quality and grinding skills have been greatly exercised and improved. Against the background of epidemic prevention, the contestants of our university overcame difficulties, used their spare time and summer vacation to train persistently, honed their ability of metallographic sample making, and fully demonstrated the craftsman spirit of our university of striving for excellence, challenging ourselves and pursuing excellence.
