Implementation Plan for the Practical Education Activity on the Theme of “Road to Manufacturing Power” of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information (Trial)

 

In order to thoroughly study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implement the spirit of “Opinions on Strengthening and Improving Ideological and Political Work in the New Era” issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and implement the requirements of the University’s “Implementation Plan for Deepening the “Road to Learning" Series of Education” (DDDF [2019] No. 29), guide the students of the School to base themselves on the industry, deepen their majors, and courageously take up the great undertakings, strengthen their ideals and beliefs, stand firm on the people's position, develop excellent skills, and devote themselves to the great cause of becoming a powerful country in social practice, and further improve the top-level design and systematic planning, this Plan is hereby formulated in combination with the facts and educational needs of the School.

I. General Idea

Guided by Xi Jinping thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, study and implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and all previous plenary sessions, implement the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, focus on the strategic requirements of building a powerful country in manufacturing and science and technology, base ourselves on the needs of the intelligent manufacturing industry for talents and the actual demands of the students for their own growth and development, closely follow the disciplinary advantages and characteristics of the School, and integrate various educational resources inside and outside the school, explore key enterprises and alumni enterprises in the industry, learn the current situation of the industry and understand the development trend through investigation and research, practice visits and summary presentations, so as to help students understand the historical mission, shoulder the responsibility of the times, strengthen scientific innovation practice, grow up to the new men of the times who will take up the responsibility of national rejuvenation.

II. Objectives

(I) Lead students to understand their historical mission and shoulder the responsibility of the times

Learn the history and great achievements of China’s manufacturing industry under the leadership of the Party through practice, feel the important contribution made by the intelligent manufacturing industry to building a modern socialist country, constantly consolidate and expand the achievements of Party history learning and education, deepen the students’ understanding of the patriotic responsibility, and guide students to firmly establish the “Four Consciousnesses and “Four-sphere Confidence”, achieve “Two Upholds”, deeply understand the decisive significance of “Two Establishments” and earnestly shoulder the responsibility of the times.

(II) Help students to grasp the needs of the times and grow up to be successful in all respects

Further understand the cutting-edge trends and development trends of the mechanical and electrical industry based on the practice, help our students understand the professional development and the demand for future talents, and then, they will look back on their own growth and development, enhance their professional identity, constantly improve their comprehensive quality and ability according to the needs of society, industry and enterprises, and contribute to the development of China’s manufacturing industry.

(III) Encourage the students of the School to carry forward the spirit of craftsmanship and be brave to work hard and struggle

Learn the growth path of outstanding alumni entrepreneurs and summarize their development experience, refine the spirit of craftsmanship, and vigorously promote it among the students, encourage our students to strive and innovate, and grow up to be qualified builders and reliable successors of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics.

(IV) Promote the students to strengthen scientific innovation practice and improve innovation ability

Strengthen the demonstration effect and on-campus practice, use the propaganda and exchange activities and various science and innovation activity platforms of the School to strengthen the learning and scientific research atmosphere, improve the coverage and effectiveness of practical achievements, and encourage students to focus on cultivating their innovation awareness and improving their innovation and practice ability.

III. Basic Principles

(I) Education first, integration and linkage

Integrate relevant practice education platforms and resources of the School into education, teaching and practice, closely adhere to the fundamental task of cultivating virtues and morality, and take helping students grow and become talents as the foothold, to focus precisely, broaden the path and promote in a coordinated manner.

(II) Follow the law and innovative forms

Grasp the law of ideological and political education and student growth and development, adhere to the student-centered, focus on the needs of industry development and student aspirations, innovative the paths and modes of practical activities, and encourage the adoption of a variety of ways.

(III) Near and convenient, safety first

With practice safety as the primary premise, strengthen safety education, strictly implement the teacher-led mechanism, and give priority to alumni enterprises and key enterprises cooperating with the School for practice activities.

IV. Practice Paths

(I) Implementation of the Learning about Manufacturing Power initiative

Strengthen the study of national strategies and industry cognition, check the important strategic documents, plans or action plans of the Party and the State on manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing, investigate the history and frontier dynamics of the development of manufacturing industry, grasp the current industry status and development trend, analyze the current achievements and weaknesses, and discuss and exchange them to improve the theoretical foundation of the students.

(II) Implementation of the “Professional Learning Research initiative

Conduct questionnaire surveys and interviews to grasp the professional (industry) identity, creative awareness and innovative ability cultivation, school learning performance and practice, core demands for growth and development and future planning of the students, sort out the current situation of students industry understanding and professional learning, and analyze the problems and causes.

(III) Implementation of the “Road to Enterprise Experience” initiative

Taking the opportunities of summer social practice, professional practice and training, enterprise visits, industry-university-research cooperation, visit key enterprises in the industry and alumni enterprises to conduct field research, go deep into enterprises for professional learning and scientific innovation experience to participate in the enterprise production and work practice and understand the technology development cutting-edge trends of the enterprise, carry out basic professional skills practice, and visit intelligent manufacturing production lines to learn the new mode of enterprise management and operation.

(IV) Implementation of the “Corporate Culture Journey” initiative

Conduct practical visits and make in-depth interviews in relevant enterprises. Draw a schedule and roadmap for the visit, and feel the development history and culture of the enterprise by reviewing materials, fieldwork, and exploring history. Conduct Interviews and exchanges with the relevant persons in charge of key enterprises and alumni entrepreneurs to find out the outstanding contributions of enterprises to the strategy of manufacturing power, and to experience the spirit of craftsmanship and the innovation culture.

(V) Implementation of the “Excellent Enterprise Lecturer Group” plan

Invite alumni entrepreneurs and heads of key units to visit the School for exchanges to promote the cooperation between the Scholl and enterprises, combine career planning and employment guidance education opportunities. In combination with the career planning and career guidance education opportunities, invite them to deliver lectures for and exchange with our students themed “My University, My Growth Season”, share their industry knowledge and growth and development experience with students, so as to play the role of model demonstration and help students establish industry confidence, forge responsibility, cultivate the innovation spirit and improve the comprehensive ability.

(VI) Implementation of the “Manufacturing Power Publicity Team” plan 

Timely summarize the phased practice achievements, write the practice report and experience, discuss the content and form of the lecture, carry out the publicity work for different student groups in the School, share what we have learned and seen in the practice process with more student groups, so as to expand the benefits and improve the effectiveness.

(VII) Implementation of the “Science and Technology Cultural Festival” plan

Timely sort out the practical achievements, strengthen the refinement of the scientific connotation of craftsmanship spirit and innovation spirit, and promote the scientific innovation activities of the School. With the brand activity “Robot Competition” as the core, create a series of activities of “Science and Technology Culture Festival”, integrate various scientific innovation competition platforms and resources of the University and the School, improve the competition objectives and mechanism, and enrich the competition content. Adhere to the combination of popular science education and innovation promotion, improve the echelon training mode of student scientific innovation team, and help students continuously improve their scientific innovation ability.

V. Main Initiatives

(I) Clarify the learning content

Learn from the ideology: study Xi Jinping thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, feel and experience its core meaning and rich connotation in practice, apply what you learn, and strengthen the identity. Learn from history: take the Party history study and education as a whole to strengthen the study of the Party history, the history of new China, the history of reform and opening up, and the history of socialist development, so as to make the history clear, add credibility, uphold morality, and practice history. Learn from the industry: focusing on the major strategic deployment of the Party and the country in the new journey of building a modern socialist country, and the strategic implementation of a strong power in manufacturing and science and technology, and combining the actual situation of the mechanical and electrical industry, carry out the study of industry strategy, industry history, industry status, industry development, to strengthen their responsibility. Learn from role models: deeply explore the struggling course and spiritual quality of outstanding alumni entrepreneurs and key enterprise leaders, and transform the power of role models into personal learning practice, so as to learn from the best and strive with determination.

(II) Integrate education resources

Incorporate the practical education activity about “Road to Manufacturing Power into the overall talent training system of the School. Take the summer social practice activities of the School as the main channel to integrate the professional practice training, summer social survey, new students entrance education, enterprise visits, volunteer service practice, Young Marxists Foster Project, and brand activities of the School. Relying on student organizations such as student party branches, league branches, classes, league organizations and clubs, actively form practice teams, coordinate manpower, funding, facilities and equipment and other resources, mobilize the enthusiasm of teachers in the School, do a good job in project cultivation and support, and strengthen evaluation and incentive, so as to form a coordinated operation mechanism.

(III) Strengthen process guidance

Insist on the whole process and whole chain management of practice activities, and make good organization and overall planning, so as to ensure that all practice teams carry out thematic practice activities in a safe and orderly manner. Give full play to the initiative of teachers and ensure that each practice team has an instructor in charge, especially the guidance role of professional teachers. The young teachers and head teachers of each department should act as the instructors of practice teams and provide full guidance on the practice theme, program design, route selection, process development, summary report and communication display, and lead the team to the practice site for practice under guidance. Give full play to the exemplary and leading role of the students in charge of the team and the student leaders of the School, effectively guarantee the effectiveness of practice activities, so as to make contributions to the development of society and industry and improve the students’ comprehensive quality and ability.

(IV) Focus on publicity and display

Strengthen the publicity of practice activities, take the School website and WeChat official account as the main position, and use various publicity platforms of the University and relevant publicity resources in the place where the practice is located to publicize and report the process and effect of the practice. Deeply dig the advanced models and outstanding deeds emerging from the practice, and publicize the deeds of typical youth figures. Do a good job of communication and publicity after practice activities, and carry out special publicity activities to expand the coverage of learning practice. Timely summarize and condense the good experiences, practices and results of the practice activities and report them to the University and higher authorities to enhance the social influence of the practice activities.

VI. Implementation

(I) Phase I: Practice start-up

From April to May each year, the School will coordinate the overall planning of the themed practice education practice on Road to Manufacturing Power of the present year, strengthen the publicity of the activities, hold a launching ceremony, introduce the activities and related arrangements, and make cohesive efforts and preparations.

(II) Phase II: Team registration

From May to June of each year, we will organize the practice team registration, issue the registration notice, strengthen the team mobilization, promote our students to form teams based on the Party branch, class League branch, laboratory, club, scientific research projects, etc., and graduate students are encouraged to participate in practice. Each team needs to contact the instructor and fill in the application form, planning plan and other registration materials for relevant activities. The team meeting the requirements of the Universitys summer social practice activities should register for the university-level practice team as required.

(III) Phase III: Implementation

From June to September each year, each practice team, under the guidance of the instructor, makes preliminary preparations for the practice theme, implementation plan, route planning, literature review and other links in the school, and goes to the practice site for practice in combination with the actual situation. In the process of the activity, the practice team should pay attention to the collection of relevant materials and the writing of publicity copy, and strengthen the publicity of the activity.

(IV) Phase IV: Summarize and create excellence

From September to October each year, each practice team should summarize the whole process of practice activities, highlight the effectiveness of the practice and the feelings and experiences of the participating students, form a practice report, and participate in the selection of excellence in the summer social practice activities of the School and University to form the model effect.

(V) Phase V: Publicity and display

From October to April of the following year, in combination with the overall arrangement of the student work of the School, special presentations and exchanges shall be carried out for practice teams by integrating with the various educational activities of the School. Carry out regular enterprise visits by means of student enterprise travel, new students’ entrance education, student practice and training. Invite alumni entrepreneurs and heads of key units to visit the School and hold special lectures to consolidate and expand the results of practice. Regularly carry out publicity and reports on typical figures, advanced examples and outstanding deeds of practical activities to expand the coverage of activities.

VII. Work Requirements

(I) Strengthen the organization and leadership

Under the leadership of the administration of the Party Committee of the School, a leading group shall be established for the themed practice of “Road to manufacturing power”, with members consisting of relevant School leaders, department leaders, counselors, teacher representatives and student representatives. The office of the leading group shall be set up in the Youth League Committee of the School to coordinate and plan the overall practice activities. The Youth League Committee of the School is responsible for the organization, mobilization and implementation of the activities, and the tertiary units of the School should widely mobilize and organize students to participate. All teachers should take the initiative to act as practice team instructors and guide them to carry out practice activities effectively in all respects.

(II) Extensive efforts to obtain resources

Make full use of the resources of various industry-university-research cooperation projects and teacher’ external cooperation scientific research projects of the School, dig deeper into outstanding alumni enterprises and key units in the industry to establish communication, strengthen exchanges and seek cooperation. Focus on docking with the existing cooperative enterprises of the School such as Xiamen SAN-VISION, Shanghai Jintai, CREG, Wuxi DRILLTO, FiberHome Communication, Chery Automobile, Dongfeng Group, and Haier Group, and seek support for activities and carry out practical activities with the help of existing practice training and scientific research base and other platforms.

(III) Intensive activity support

The practical education activity on the theme of Road to Manufacturing Power spans a long period of time, covers a wide range of content, and has many items. All tertiary units of the School should raise awareness and attach great importance to the provision of instructors and resource support, and carry out process control and education guidance to ensure that the practical activities are effective.

(IV) Provide funding guarantee

The School has set up a special fund for thematic practical education activities (RMB 30,000 to 50,000 Yuan per year) to support the effective implementation of practical activities of each team and reward the results. For instructors who lead teams to carry out practical activities on the spot, the round-trip travel expenses shall be reimbursed according to the standard for official business trip.

(V) Commendation and encouragement

The students’ “sense of gain” and growth promotion will be always regarded as the first standard to measure the effect of thematic practice activities, and the annual evaluation will be carried out in the form of results exchange and defense. The School shall hold a summary and commendation meeting to vigorously commend the advanced teams, outstanding students and instructors in the activities, and do a good job of reward publicity to promote the continuous and in-depth implementation of practical activities.
