HUANG Jiang

Huang Jiang, a visiting professor of design at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), graduated from the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, and is a famous Chinese automobile designer, a professor senior engineer, and the founder of IMD Automobile Design Institute.

In 2007, after graduation, Huang Jiang joined Shanghai Tongjie Automobile Engineering Research Institute and participated in the development of the Great Wall Haval H6 urban SUV in cooperation with Great Wall Motor, which was his first vehicle project since he started working in automotive design. The H6 has been a huge success since its launch and has become the best-selling SUV in China. Today, the H6 has been fighting in the market for nearly 12 years and has always maintained top sales in the SUV sales ranking, and once dominated the first place in sales for as long as 30 months.

In 2011, Huang Jiang joined BAIC Group and presided over the design of all BAIC New Energy models, and the sales of new energy have been No. 1 in the country for five years in a row, and the 300,000th pure electric vehicle of BAIC New Energy rolled out in 2018. The rapid growth of BAIC New Energy has become the “only bright spot in the new energy vehicle market”, contributing to China's blue sky initiative.

In 2013, he presided over and completed the only real performance version of the coupe in China, BAIC Shenbao D70 AERO, with a maximum torque of 500N·m and a 100km acceleration of 5.7 seconds. Tommy Makinen participated in the adjustment, and the powerful performance of the racing version was ready to emerge.

In 2017, he presided over and completed the design of the first generation Baidu driverless series, which were personally inspected by the top leaders of the country at the 3rd World Internet Conference. Baidu driverless is the starting point of smart cities, creating a new business card that constantly promotes internalization of the “urban brain”.

In 2017, the parade vehicle BAIC off-road BJ80J (military version), gloriously participated in the President's 2 parades: the first is the 20th anniversary of the Return of Hong Kong; the second is the 90th anniversary of the founding of the army.

In 2022, two smart products designed by him won international product design awards: Lenovo AI Edge Smart Gateway won the German Red Dot and Gmark in Japan; AAVI Air Purification System won the Red Dot in Germany and US IDEA.

In 2016, he was awarded the title of China Automotive Innovative Design · Golden Dot Design Talent;

In 2017, he won China's annual cross-border pioneer award for designers;

In 2018, he won the Top Ten Outstanding Youth Awards in China’s Design Industry;

In 2019, he was awarded the Capital Design Promotion Plan · Outstanding Young Design Talent;

In 2022, he won the Red Dot (2), Gmark, IDEA and other international design awards.
