At 3:00 p.m. on April 24, the 17th lecture of the series themed “My University, My Growing Season” in the 2020-2021 academic year was held in Room 308, No. 2 Teaching Building. Chen Xi, a student of Grade 2017 from the Department of Communication Engineering, and Badumu Caicike, a student of Grade 2017 form the Department of Electronic Information Engineering, were invited as speakers.
Badumu Caicike, who is currently in charge of the employment promotion of the 2017 Graduate Committee, made a report entitled “How to Become a “Job-Hunting Genius” in the Graduation Season”. According to the majors of the students present, she briefly introduced the possible employment direction of each major. With the possible employers of each specialty as the starting point, she also listed some companies that she had selected in the double choose meeting for detailed introduction. She suggested that students should ask themselves “what do I like? What am I curious about?” So that they could determine the suitable sector and post. In particular, she shared her own tips: sorting out and listing what she had done, including course assignments, internships, student work, etc., and then clarifying the job search direction. Then, she showed the time line of job hunting, and introduced it in combination with her own job hunting experience. Finally, she encouraged the students of Grade 2018 who were ready to apply for a job, hoping that they would “keep trying and accumulate steadily”.
Then, Chen Xi, who signed with Huawei, gave a report entitled “Interview Skills of Undergraduate Employment and Points for Attention in Job Hunting”. At the beginning, Chen Xi pointed out the theme of his report: “Getting a clear understanding of ourselves and daring to try”. He summarized three points and shares with students: clear understanding of career goals and positioning; preparing and analyzing carefully; submitting resume boldly. In the first part, he pointed out that we should have a clear understanding of ourselves, clear goals, what kind of people we are, what kind of jobs we like, what kind of people we want to be and what we want, and he also shared some job hunting stories in combination with his own experience. In the second part, he stressed that we should fully understand the information and prepare multiple resumes; pay attention to the time node, grasp the autumn and spring recruitment opportunities; analyze carefully, and sum up every failure and success. He introduced his own method of analysis, i.e. setting up a folder for every job application, including the information prepared for the company and experiences. At the same time, taking himself as an example, he introduced the time line of job hunting in detail. In the third part, he pointed out that we should break the misunderstanding of thinking and should bravely send resumes to large enterprises. Finally, he gave the words “the future is infinite, and the wonderful is created by ourselves” to the students present.
At the end of the lecture, Chen Xi and Badumu Caicike answered the questions raised by the students.
