Work Scheme for Second-Round Examination and Admission of Doctoral Candidates of School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information in 2022

 

  

According to the spirit of the relevant documents and notices of the Ministry of Education, in combination with the requirements on epidemic prevention and control and the actual conditions of admission of CUG, in order to do a good job in admission of doctoral candidates in 2022, this scheme is hereby formulated and announced as follows:

I. Basic Requirements of Second-round Examination

1. Uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China, have good moral character, abide by laws and regulations, and meet the requirements of physical examination prescribed by the state.

2. Adhere to the principle of “admission according to need, enrolling only those who are outstanding, less but better”, and adhere to the principles of equity, justice and publicity.

3. On the basis of comprehensive examination, stress the assessment of professional quality, scientific research ability, practical ability, innovative spirit and comprehensive quality. Before the examination, the examinee shall sign “A Letter of Commitment on Good Faith”. The assessment of ideological and political quality and moral character is one of the important assessment contents, and those who fail will not be admitted.

4. The MD-PhD based candidate, the candidate for doctor’s degree in advance and the “application-assessment” candidate with examination qualification passing the qualification examination will directly take the second-round examination. The list of second-round examination is shown in the table below.

III. Form and Arrangement of Second-Round Examination

Network-based remote second-round examination will be adopted. Candidates will take the second-round examination in a remote way by internet, and the expert group will assess on site. (For detailed operation manual of second-round examination, please see the Annex 0 “Instructions for Online Examination”)

(I) Preparation before second-round examination

1. Preparation for online examination conditions. Candidates should complete the construction of the hardware and software required for their personal online second-round examination in advance, including the basic networking environment and cell phone access devices.

2. Equipment commissioning. Candidates should complete equipment commissioning in advance, usually one hour in advance; pass the system identity verification and enter the waiting area.

3. Signing of the commitment letter. Candidates are required to sign the "Commitment of Honesty to Examination and Confidentiality" before starting the examination, strictly abide by the examination discipline and confidentiality requirements, and not to release any content related to the second-round examination. Candidates who have violations in the second-round examination, once confirmed, will be dealt with seriously in accordance with the “Measures for Handling Violations in the National Education Examination” and the “Interim Measures for Handling Violations in the National University Entrance Exams”, and will be disqualified from admission and recorded in the “Candidate Examination Integrity File”.

4. Complete the second-round examination seriously. Candidates will randomly select the questions of second-round examination and complete the assessment tasks according to the prescribed process.

5. Complete the simulation test. Complete the test assessment according to the system prompts, and familiarize yourself with the operational processes and related requirements of the system in advance. We will organize an online remote examination simulation exercise on the morning of May 5, please attend on time.

(II) Online registration and qualification examination

Candidates are required to log on to the online remote second-round examination platform through the website cug.yanjiushengyuan.com of the University before 24:00 on May 4, and provide the electronic version of the materials online according to the list of materials for qualification examination. Those who fail to upload the qualification examination materials as required or those who do not meet the requirements will not be re-examined. Candidates whose academic (status) information is in doubt are required to provide proof of academic credentials on the student information network within 3 days and have them verified; candidates who do not comply with the regulations are not allowed to take second-round examination.

List of qualification materials (upload PDF files only)

1. A handheld ID photo and handwritten and signed “Commitment to Integrity and Confidentiality” (downloaded from the platform). (Upload 1 file only)

2. Proof materials of school status and academic qualifications (scanned copy or photo of master's degree certificate): Fresh master graduates must provide the online degree certification report of the Ministry of Education, and those who cannot obtain the degree certificate before admission will be disqualified. Previous graduates should prepare scanned copies or photos of the master degree certificate, “Electronic Registration Form for Academic Certificates of the Ministry of Education” or the “China Higher Education Degree Certification Report”. (Upload 1 file only)

3. Scanned copy of foreign language proficiency certificate. (Upload 1 file only)

4. Resume: Upload according to the format of our School (see Annex 1 for the resume template), which should contain basic personal information, study experience and transcripts, work experience, research experience (combined with professional overview), supporting materials (such as papers, projects, transcripts, certificates, etc.). 5. "Review Form of Ideological and Political Moral Performance for Graduate Admissions" (See Annex 2 for the template of a doctoral transfer letter and political examination form). After filling in, the candidate shall seal, scan or take photos to upload. If it can't be stamped due to the epidemic, the candidate can upload assessment form signed by the organization department first. The stamped version should be submitted to our school at the latest before the announcement of the proposed admission. 6. On-the-job candidates who apply for non-targeted training must provide proof of termination of employment relationship by the unit, and the on-the-job candidates who apply for targeted training must provide a certificate from the unit's personnel department agreeing to take off four years to study for a doctoral degree. For those who provide false information, they will be disqualified from the second-round examination (Upload 1 file only; see Annex 3 for the format of the relevant proof template)

7. Other supplementary materials.

 

(III) Content of second-round examination

1. Background assessment: An assessment team composed of 6 experts is set up to conduct the comprehensive and independent assessment according to the application materials submitted by candidates, issue written evaluation opinions on ideology and politics, professional foundation, research potential and innovation ability, and give a background evaluation score. Those who fail to pass the background assessment are not allowed to enter the next step, and their score adopts the centesimal integer, with a full score of 100.

2. Comprehensive interview assessment: including foreign language proficiency assessment and comprehensive quality assessment. The report (the report time is 8 minutes) shall be in the form of PPT, and the time shall not be less than 20 minutes. Comprehensive interview result will be in centesimal system (the result shall be rounded up to 2 decimal places).

(1) Foreign language proficiency assessment: assess the candidate' foreign language application ability, mainly including foreign language writing, literature reading and translation ability. It will be carried out in form of interview. Foreign language proficiency test score is in centesimal system.

(2) Comprehensive quality assessment: the professional assessment group will assess the candidates’ subject background, professional accomplishments, academic level, scientific research ability and innovation potential in an all-round way. Comprehensive quality assessment score is in centesimal system.

3. Total score of second-round examination

Total score of candidates for application-assessment = background assessment*10% + foreign language proficiency assessment *20% + comprehensive quality assessment *70%. The total score is 100 points, accurate to two decimal places.

Total score of MD-PhD based candidates = foreign language proficiency assessment *20% + comprehensive quality assessment *80%. The total score is 100 points, accurate to two decimal places.

 

(IV) Time of second-round examination

At 9:00 am on May 7, 2022. On the day of the exam, please pass the system identity verification one hour in advance and enter the waiting area to wait for the exam.

 

(V) Payment for second-round examination

Candidates should pay the second-round examination fee of RMB 100Yuan/person online through the online remote second-round examination platform (cug.yanjiushengyuan.com). Once paid, the fee will not be refunded. After paying the fee, candidates can download the electronic admission ticket through the second-round examination platform one day before the second-round examination.

(VI) Physical examination

It will be organized and implemented uniformly after the admission of new students. For those who do not pass the physical examination, the relevant provisions on new students' admission qualification review will be implemented. There are two ways of physical examination, and the candidates can choose either. First, candidates can go to our hospital for physical examination at the prescribed time; second, candidates can go to the local hospital of second grade or above for physical examination and submit the physical examination report to this School at the specified time.

IV. Proposed Admission

1. The MD-PhD candidates and candidates for doctor’s degree in advance will be proposed for admission as the first batch after passing the second-round examination. "Application-assessment" (including the special program for ideological and political backbone) based candidates for ordinary plan will be admitted according to the total score of second-round examination combined with supervisor enrollment plan from high score to low score.

2. Candidates who have one of the following circumstances will not be admitted or be disqualified

① Unqualified in ideological and political quality and moral character assessment

②Unqualified in background assessment

③Unqualified in comprehensive interview assessment

④Failing to take or failing in the second-round examination (unqualified if the total score of second-round examination is below 60) 

⑤Not publicized in the proposed admission list

⑥Failing to submit the targeted employment agreement on time as a targeted employment candidate; failing to transfer the archives on time as a non-targeted candidate

⑦Failing to submit degree certificate or graduation certificate and other required materials on time

⑧Providing false information

3. The archives of the previous students who intend to be admitted as non-targeted candidates shall be transferred to this School before June 20, and fresh graduates can transfer the archives after graduation; students who are pre-assigned to the specific posts such as job-directed students and in-service students as the backbone of the national minority do not need to transfer the archives. If you fail to go through the proposed admission procedures within the time limit, the candidates will bear the consequences.

4. After publicity for 10 working days without objection, this School will submit the proposed admission list to Graduate School according to the enrollment plan issued. All proposed admission lists must be reported to the Ministry of Education for examination and approval before they are officially accepted.
