Notice on the Admissions of Single-Certificate Doctoral Candidates in 2022
To all doctoral student admission units:
To successfully complete the admissions of single-certificate doctoral candidates in 2022, the specific work arrangement is hereby notified as follows:
I. Application Requirements
According to the spirit of relevant documents of the University and the actual situation of talent development work of the University, in order to ensure the training quality of single-certificate doctoral students, the applicants must meet the following application requirements:
1. Love the motherland, uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China, have good political and ideological qualities, observe disciplines and obey laws, and have good moral character.
2. Work in the relevant discipline field for three years or more after obtaining a master's degree. Age as of the application period is not more than 40 years old in principle.
3. The applicant has made certain achievements in teaching, scientific research or specialized technical fields. In the past five years, the applicant has published 1 or more academic papers in T4 and above journals of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) as the first author or corresponding author, or has obtained one international invention patent or one national invention patent as the first inventor.
4. The applicant has won the third prize at the provincial or ministerial level or above (with the award certificate). The recognition scope includes: (1) science and technology awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level; (2) science and technology awards from social forces (including associations and industry associations) with the qualification to recommend national awards; (3) provincial excellent social science awards; (4) Geological Survey Achievement Award issued by China Geological Survey; (5) science and technology figure awards or science and technology honor awards issued by the national-level societies.
II. Application and Assessment
(I) Application time
April 29-May 10.
(II) Submission of application materials
Before May 10, please send scanned copies of the following documents to the application unit, and bound paper materials into a volume and mail them to the application unit by EMS of China Post.
1. The “Qualification Examination Form for Application for Single-Certificate Doctoral Degree in 2022”, which requires the personnel department of the unit, the supervisor and the enrollment unit to fill in the audit opinion and seal.
2. Two recommendations from experts with the rank of associate professor (or equivalent) or higher related to the discipline being applied for.
3. Copies of master's degree certificate and senior title, and published papers, awards or patent certificates.
4. Academic and degree certification report or electronic registration filing form.
(III) Qualification examination and second-round examination
1. Each admission unit is responsible for the preliminary examination of candidates' application qualifications and will submit the list of candidates who have passed the qualification examination and their application materials to the Graduate Admissions for review by May 16.
2. By May 23, the Graduate School will provide feedback on the list of candidates who have passed the qualification review.
3. Before May 31, each admission unit will organize second-round examination and assessment team consisting of not less than five experts with the title of associate professor (or above) or equivalent professional and technical titles in the discipline or similar disciplines to conduct second-round examination and assessment for those who meet the application requirements.
(IV) Proposed admission
Candidates who pass the second-round examination will be proposed for admission by the University. Candidates to be admitted are required to sign the "Agreement on Applying for Commissioned Training of Single-Certificate Doctoral Candidates" with the University.
(V) Submission of second –round examination materials
1. Original copy of the “Qualification Examination Form for Application for Single-Certificate Doctoral Degree in 2022”
2. Scanned copy of the signed and stamped version of the “Second-round Examination Record Form”.
III. Training and Fees
1. The University registers the proposed single-certificate doctoral students for admission.
2. The university organizes and implements teaching and training according to the single-certificate doctoral training program.
3. Applicants complete the procedures of course study, dissertation opening and dissertation defense.
4. The university awards doctoral degrees to those who have completed their courses, defended their dissertations, and met the requirements for academic achievement in applying for doctoral degrees.
5. The total tuition fee for single-certificate doctoral students is RMB 84,000 Yuan per student, payable in three academic years (RMB 28,000Yuan/person/year).
IV. Others
1. The single-certificate doctoral students should complete their course study at the campus of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).
2. The applicant's household registration file, organization file, medical file and other personnel relationship files are retained in the applicant's local unit. Applicants assume responsibility for their own personal and property safety during the study period.
3. The applicant must complete the degree application and defense within seven years after the enrollment registration. If the applicant fails to complete the course study or pass the dissertation defense within the time limit, the training procedure will be terminated and the tuition fees paid by the applicant will not be refunded.
4. Applicants who apply for doctoral degrees after enrollment must meet the conditions and requirements for the award of doctoral degrees in their disciplines before they can be granted.
