Good News: Approval of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral and Master's Degree Program in Low-Altitude Technology and Engineering

Recently, the interdisciplinary doctoral program and academic master's program in Low-Altitude Technology and Engineering, jointly proposed by the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information in collaboration with the School of Automation, School of Geography and Information Engineering, School of Computer Science, Institute of Advanced Technology, School of Economics and Management, and School of Public Administration, has been successfully approved by the Ministry of Education. The program is now officially established and will commence admissions immediately, with plans to welcome its first cohort of master's and doctoral students in 2026.

This degree program is closely aligned with the national low-altitude economic development strategy, focusing on innovative research in four major directions, including low altitude vehicle system engineering, low-altitude intelligent control and safety assurance, low-altitude intelligent planning and management, and low-altitude intelligent geological exploration and application. It is committed to cultivating high-level multidisciplinary professionals urgently needed in the low-altitude economic sector, covering core technology research and development, system integration, airspace management, and geological industry applications at multiple levels.

Under the unified leadership and strong support of the university, the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information meticulously organized and coordinated, and all participating units united their strengths and worked in close collaboration, fully leveraging CUG’s distinctive advantages in earth sciences and multidisciplinary integration. The successful approval of this degree program marks the high recognition of our academic level, research strength, and talent cultivation ability in related disciplines at the national level.

The School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information will collaborate with partner units to actively plan and establish the "Low-altitude Intelligent Technology and Engineering Research Center", taking this as an opportunity to integrate high-quality resources and innovate training models, solidly promote the construction of degree programs, and strive to build a leading domestic and internationally first-class talent cultivation highland and technological innovation platform in the low-altitude field as soon as possible, continuously contributing wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of China's low-altitude economy!
