From late July to early August, the visiting practice team of the school went to Seoul, Ansan, Suwon and other places to visit Hanyang University in depth. They had in-depth exchanges with teachers and students from many universities around the world, and conducted visiting study practice on professional abilities, career development abilities, and cross-cultural communication abilities.
Customized Professional Courses for Forging Solid Professional Competence
The visiting study team has carefully considered the specialized learning needs of students in new engineering disciplines and leveraged Hanyang University's academic strengths to customize a targeted curriculum system, including core courses such as Robotics Engineering and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence. Hanyang University has established a unique industry-university-research collaboration model through long-term and close cooperation with numerous high-tech enterprises such as LG (South Korea's electronics giant), the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and the Gyeonggi-do Technology Park, providing students with a new learning environment that seamlessly integrates theory and practice. In the “Robotics Engineering” class, students worked in teams to program small robots to perform complex grasping tasks. Through this hands-on approach, they gained a detailed understanding of robotic arm movement principles, transforming abstract theories into concrete practical operations, which deepened their understanding and application of professional knowledge. The course “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” compared the differences in AI applications between China and South Korea through case analysis, sparking lively discussions and encouraging students to think about professional issues from a broader perspective. In the classroom, students from multiple countries around the world engaged in lively discussions on professional issues, and the collision of different ways of thinking and cognitive perspectives effectively broadened students’ professional horizons.
Gaining insights into the cutting edge of the industry to enhance career development capabilities
The visiting study team gained insights into the cutting edge of industry development through visits to enterprises, and guided the participating students to deeply understand the need to “continuously improve their career development capabilities in response to rapid industry changes.” At the Samsung Innovation Hall, over a thousand exhibits ranging from black and white televisions in the early days of Samsung Electronics to the latest foldable screen smartphones, semiconductor chips and smart home systems, visually trace the evolution of this technology enterprise. The guide demonstrated how 5G empowers telemedicine and autonomous driving through interactive devices. Students, based on their own majors, had in-depth discussions with the guide on the integration of AI and the Internet of Things, and deeply felt the transformation of technology enterprises from followers to leaders, which provided new inspiration for professional learning directions. At the Hyundai Motor Culture Center, they gained up-close access to cutting-edge exhibits such as hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and L4 autonomous concept cars. Through test driving vehicles equipped with the latest driver assistance systems, they personally experienced the development achievements in intelligent transportation technology. The accompanying Hyundai engineers introduced the cooperation cases between China and South Korea in the field of new energy vehicles, which triggered students’ in-depth thinking on "green travel and sustainable development", and gave them a clearer understanding of the direction and skills required for future career development, effectively enhancing their career development abilities.
Integrating multiculturalism and strengthening cross-cultural communication skills
As China approaches the center stage of the world, college students need to constantly strengthen their cross-cultural communication skills and enhance their international competitiveness. The visiting study team guided students to experience different educational systems and cultural environments through deep engagement in multiple activities, gradually improving their cross-cultural communication skills. At the opening ceremony, the university systematically introduced its educational characteristics and disciplinary strengths, while students from multiple countries around the world deepened their understanding through interactive activities. In theme park interactions, students from different countries broke down language barriers by participating in amusement projects together and completed their first cross-cultural communication practice in a relaxed atmosphere. At the welcome party, traditional Korean cuisine and group games were held, allowing students to experience Korean food culture while enhancing international friendship through collaborative interaction. At the concert venue, the collision of traditional and modern music allowed students to experience the diverse expressions of art. These activities not only enriched the visiting learning experience, but also become vivid classrooms for students to understand foreign cultures and strengthen cross-cultural communication skills, effectively enhancing deep communication and mutual trust among students from different countries.
