To strengthen communication and exchange with outstanding university students and showcase the school’s educational strength and distinctive graduate programs, the School held the campus open day event for graduate admissions event via Tencent Meeting at 9:00 am on June 30th.
This event featured a main venue and satellite venues. The main venue was hosted by Mr. Wu Zhichao, with speeches delivered by Dean Huang Tianye, Professor Ge Mingfeng, and Professor Hao Guocheng. They systematically introduced the overall profile of the School, including its developmental history, academic programs, faculty composition, and research facilities. Through extensive data and concrete examples, they clearly demonstrated the school’s educational capabilities and developmental vitality, providing participating students with a basic understanding of the school.
At the sub-venue for Mechanical and Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Cheng Peng, Lin Ke, and Ding Tengfei demonstrated the strength of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from different perspectives. Together, they explored the profound heritage and vast prospects of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in various fields such as intelligent robot research and development, military technology exploration, intelligent power system optimization, and scientific research output, painting an academic blueprint full of opportunities and challenges for the students. Finally, the host, Mr. Ge Mingfeng, highlighted the key points, emphasizing once again the excellent research capabilities and outstanding educational achievements of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and extending a sincere invitation to the students to apply for the department.
The sub-venue for Information and Communication Engineering and Electronic Information was chaired by Mr. Wu. Mr. Hao Guocheng introduced the overall situation of the school, while Li Yingyu, Liu Yong and Cheng Zhuo elaborated on the research directions and achievements of their respective research groups, covering multiple frontier fields such as intelligent fiber-optic sensing, the Internet of Things, and chip design. They also interacted with the participating students and answered questions about graduation requirements, employment directions, preliminary recommendation assessments, and recruitment requirements, providing students with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of electrical engineering research and education.
At the sub-venue for Industrial Design, four supervisors, namely Professor Xiao, Xu Jie, Chen Xiaoli, and Xiong Wei, introduced the research characteristics such as design thinking and methods and AI-driven form innovation, focusing on directions like interaction design, topology optimization, and AI collaboration. The entire event focused on bidirectional academic matching, providing potential graduate students with application consultation and guidance on research directions.
In the later stage of the event, the students also engaged in in-depth discussions on core issues such as the preliminary assessment process for recommended graduate admissions, the composition of the supervisor team, career direction choices, and graduation requirements. The teachers patiently and professionally answered the students' questions one by one, warmly welcoming all students to join China University of Geosciences to embark on a new academic journey together.
