On May 24-25, the on-site finals of the 5th Teaching Innovation Competition for College Teachers in Hubei Province were held at Wuhan University of Technology. Representatives of teachers from dozens of universities across the province competed on the same stage, which was a high-level presentation and exchange of the teaching innovation achievements. After fierce competition, Xu Linhong, Han Guangchao, Zhang Wenying and Liu Fuchu, teachers from the course group “Metal Materials and Heat Treatment” of the School, stood out from numerous outstanding contestants with advanced teaching concepts, innovative teaching designs and outstanding teaching results, and won the grand prize for New Engineering Associate Professor Group. Xu Linhong, the main lecturer of the team, is the head of “Ideological and Political Education Team for Manufacturing Courses” and a recipient of “Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award” of the university.
This honor not only realizes the “zero breakthrough” of our school in the grand prize of the competition, but also marks the leaping development of the School in teaching reform and innovation from “following” to “running alongside” and then to “leading”, which fully demonstrates the remarkable results of our teacher team building and the fruitful achievements of education and teaching reform.
“Metal Materials and Heat Treatment” is an important foundational course for mechanical engineering majors. Through continuous construction by the course team, “Metal Materials and Heat Treatment” has become a “National Excellence Online Open Course” and “National First-class Online Course”, one of the first “New Engineering” courses in Hubei Province, and the first course of the university selected for the “Learning Power” platform, and has been included in the “Learning Power” daily MOOC, which greatly improves the social influence of our mechanical engineering majors.
