On the afternoon of March 26, 2025, President Li Jianwei came to the School to investigate and guide the work, to know more about the discipline construction, talent cultivation, and scientific research innovation of the School, so as to provide guidance for the high-quality development of the School. Qu Xianghua, secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Ning Fulong, dean of the School, and other school leaders and department heads attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Dean Ning Fulong introduced the disciplinary foundation and distinctive advantages of the school to the president, and highlighted the bottleneck constraints currently faced by the School and its development ideas. In the future, the School will focus on “Intelligent Geoscience, Creation-Oriented Future”, and strive to build a new quality productive force hub for intelligent geological equipment. The School plans to carry out work around the "331" work plan, which includes the layout of "education, technology, and talent", the construction of three provincial and ministerial level research institutes, and the establishment of one doctoral program. Other attendees put forward ideas on platform construction, talent attraction, and integration of industry and education, based on their practical teaching and research experiences.
Qu Xianghua, secretary of the Party Committee of the School, stated that the School will take this investigation as an opportunity to refine and implement the instructions of the university, focus on the core direction of “intelligent geological equipment”, deepen education and teaching reform, and strengthen the construction of teaching staff, so as to contribute power to the “double first-class” construction of the University and the national strategic needs.
President Li fully affirmed the exploration and achievements of the School in the field of "intelligent geological equipment", and pointed out that the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, as an important part of the layout in the process of building a high-level research university, should promote high-quality development through “three enhancements”:
The first is to strengthen the guidance of characteristics, anchor the main direction of “Intelligence + Geoscience”, and create a three-dimensional research system of "land, sea, and air" through interdisciplinary integration, forming differentiated competitiveness.
The second is to strengthen the integration of industry and education, deepen the cooperation with domestic leading enterprises, build joint laboratories, and promote the transformation of scientific research results, to contribute to the development of new quality productive forces.
The third is to strengthen the talent foundation, implement the “discipline leader + innovation team” program, give equal importance to attracting and cultivating, increase the training of young teachers, broaden the ways of talent introduction, and improve the evaluation and incentive mechanism, to create an innovative atmosphere of “honoring the heroes by contributions”.
