In order to inherit and carry forward the spirit of Lei Feng and practice the core socialist values, the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information called on all students to carry out the learn-from-Lei Feng activity with the theme of “Inheriting the Spirit of Lei Feng and Practicing the Mission of the Times” on March 5th. This activity centers on three aspects: party members’ pioneer leadership, home cleaning action and campus volunteer service, aiming at guiding the youth of the School to inherit the spirit of Lei Feng in practice and showing the responsibility and commitment of the youth in the new era.
Party members demonstrate their exemplary role. To solve the problem of disorderly parking of electric vehicles on both sides of the road below No. 2 Teaching Building, the school has set up a pioneer post for graduate party members, adopted the party branch contracting system and designated parking areas to clean out and guide the parking of electric vehicles. The student Party members were divided into groups, some were responsible for clearing the obstacles, some were responsible for organizing the electric vehicles, and some were responsible for promoting the importance of civilized parking to the students. “The Party member vanguard post is not only a practical activity, but also an opportunity for ideological education. We have practiced the spirit of Lei Feng with practical actions, and at the same time deeply felt the responsibility and obligation to do practical things for the public.” Hu Wentao, secretary of the doctoral student Party branch, said.
Cleaning up our home to create a civilized campus environment. In the early stage, the School widely publicized this activity through the official website, WeChat account and other platforms, calling on all students to actively participate in the cleaning action. Students took the initiative to clean the labs, dormitories and other learning and living spaces, cleaned up accumulated garbage, and tidied up items in public areas, creating a neat, orderly and civilized campus environment. “By participating in the cleaning operation, I deeply realized that a clean and tidy environment requires the joint efforts of each and every one of us. As young people of the new era, we should start from the small things around us and contribute to building a better campus.” Wang Xiaoyu, a postgraduate student of Grade 2023, said.
Campus volunteer service for practicing and promoting the spirit of Lei Feng. The “Xiangyang” Youth Volunteer Association of the school actively recruited and organized volunteers to participate in the cleaning, book sorting, and publicity activities in the library of the university. Volunteers carefully wiped the windowsills, clean the floor, organized books, sorted and put them on shelves, and provided readers with borrowing consultation and guidance services. In addition, some volunteers carried out a preaching activity at the entrance of the library called “Refuse to occupy seats, start from me”, and shared the story of Lei Feng to promote the spirit of Lei Feng. “By participating in volunteer service, I have gained a deeper understanding of the essence of the spirit of Lei Feng. Lei Feng is not only a name, but also a spirit, a belief worth practicing for our whole lives.” Zhang Yili, a youth volunteer said.
Through this activity, students demonstrated the responsibility and commitment of young people in the new era through practical actions. The inheritance and practice of the spirit of Lei Feng will never stop. The School will continue to take practical action to guide students to practice core socialist values in their study and life, and actively organize and carry out distinctive volunteer activities, to contribute youthful strength to social development.
