(Reported by Kang Hongmei) On the afternoon of November 7, 2024, Li Huashan from the Special Equipment Branch of Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. was invited to return to his alma mater and delivered a wonderful report titled “Development of Deepwater Equipment in Offshore Oil Engineering” to the teachers and students at Room 301 of No.2 Teaching Building.
Li Huashan graduated from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), and is now the Deputy General Manager and Senior Engineer of the Special Equipment Branch of Offshore Oil Engineering Corporation Limited. He has been engaged in the design and manufacture of offshore oil and gas platform equipment and key equipment for drilling platforms for a long time, with rich experience in design, manufacture and management. He has participated in multiple major engineering projects for oil and gas processing equipment and deepwater underwater production facilities on domestic and foreign offshore platforms, has compiled several technical works in the field of key offshore oil and gas equipment, has presided over a number of national major special projects and scientific research projects of CNOOC, has been granted invention patents and has published papers, and has also won five provincial and ministerial awards from Tianjin Municipal People’s Government.
Chief Engineer Li Huashan first introduced the development background of global offshore oil engineering, focusing on the key role of deepwater equipment in energy extraction. He explained in a clear and concise manner the technical challenges faced by current deepwater equipment, including equipment performance requirements under high pressure, high temperature, and severe sea conditions. Based on practical cases, he demonstrated the advanced technology and successful application of offshore oil engineering companies in deepwater oil and gas field development. He conducted an in-depth analysis of the current development status, technological progress and future trends of deepwater equipment in offshore oil engineering, and shared his valuable experience and insights in the industry.
In the communication section of the presentation, Chief Engineer Li Huashan interacted warmly with the teachers and students present, patiently answered their questions, and answered their doubts about deepwater equipment and offshore petroleum engineering. He encouraged the students to study hard and build a solid professional foundation, and looked forward to their future achievements in their respective positions. The presentation broadened the vision of teachers and students, deepened their understanding and awareness of the offshore petroleum engineering industry, and inspired their enthusiasm for dedicating themselves to the field of energy engineering.
After the presentation, Chief Engineer Li Huashan had a discussion with some teachers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the College of Marine Science and Technology. He briefly introduced the R&D needs of Offshore Oil Engineering Corporation, the teachers introduced their research fields and interests, and the two sides reached a preliminary intention on cooperation.
