On October 27, 2024, three people (Zou Yuping, Gong Miao and the instructor Zeng Sanyou) from the Artificial Intelligence Research Group of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information of China University of Geosciences participated in the Dalian Intelligent Control Special Advancement Match of 2024 Chinese Artificial Intelligence Application Scenario Innovation Challenge at the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Dalian University of Technology, and finally won the second prize after a fierce competition. While this achievement is gratifying, we also clearly recognize our shortcomings. In addition to further improving the results of the project team, we failed to clearly and accurately convey the innovative points, technological advantages, and application value of the project to the judges and audience in terms of project presentation and communication; when answering questions from the judges, our expression was not fluent and accurate enough, and sometimes we couldn’t quickly grasp the key issues and provide satisfactory answers, which might have had a certain impact on the overall evaluation of the project. Looking back at the whole process, the competition provided valuable lessons for the future.
Through this competition, we have a more comprehensive and deeper understanding of the project “Optimal Antenna - Antenna Intelligent Optimization Design Platform” (Website: http://www.youtianxian.com:8080/dist/#/dashboard). In the future, we will take this competition experience as an opportunity to continuously improve and perfect the project and strive to enhance our own technical level and comprehensive ability, to ensure the early implementation and application of the project with firm beliefs and pragmatic actions, will bring practical value and innovative changes to antenna design, and take solid steps on the road of technological innovation.

In addition, at the request of Prof. Hao Guocheng, the head of the department, the group took this opportunity to visit the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Dalian University of Technology, which was like a wonderful journey of exploration, opened our eyes, made us gain a lot of harvests, and made us have a deeper and more mature understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The person in charge of receiving us was Professor Li Hang, senior engineer and assistant to the dean of the School, who gave us an overview of the School. Since 1984, teachers have been leading students on a journey of innovation, from the original creative research group to multiple name changes, each of which has been characterized by the refinement of ideas and the expansion of practices. The development trajectory not only demonstrates the school’s persistent commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship education, but also serves as a lighthouse, illuminating the path forward for future generations and inspiring every student with dreams to move forward bravely on the road of innovation. This makes us deeply understand that any great cause originates from the initial accumulation and unremitting persistence, and we are standing on the shoulders of our predecessors and we have the responsibility to pass on and carry forward this innovative spirit.
Watching the Development History of the School

The rich and colorful activities, especially the innovation and entrepreneurship themed salon, are like a feast for the collision of ideas. Here, students' ideas mingle with each other and the sparks of innovation fly. By stimulating interest in this way, the research group understands that innovation does not come out of thin air, but stems from inner curiosity and love, and when this passion is ignited, it can be converted into a powerful innovative impetus. Reflecting on the scientific research environment in which we live, we should actively draw on this model to create a strong atmosphere of innovation, awaken the innovative potential within more members, and make innovation a natural pursuit.

The comprehensive curriculum system constructed by the "Course+" ability training platform is like a treasure trove of knowledge. From the basic compulsory courses to the personalized electives, to the practical and professional integration courses, each course is like a key to unlock the door of knowledge in different fields. This has made the group deeply realize that systematic and comprehensive knowledge learning is the cornerstone of innovation and entrepreneurship. Only with a solid grasp of multifaceted knowledge can we navigate the complex challenges of research and innovation. We realize that we must take a more rigorous attitude towards academic research, not only to be proficient in professional knowledge, but also extensively involved in innovation and entrepreneurship related fields, and constantly broaden our knowledge horizons, so as to lay a solid foundation for the future path of innovation.
Visiting the Artificial Intelligence Practice Class
The concept of “Learning by Doing, Thinking by Learning, and Creating by Thinking” advocated by the “Project +” maker education platform makes us feel the power of real knowledge by doing. The hands-on project in the workshop is a bridge from theory to practical results. Looking at the real-life works transformed from students' creative ideas, we deeply admire them and understand that only through practical experience can we truly improve our innovation and problem-solving abilities. This will prompt the research team to be more proactive in participating in all kinds of projects in the future, not fearing difficulties and obstacles, trying new methods and ideas, fully applying the knowledge learned to practice, constantly accumulating experience, and improving the comprehensive quality of the team.
Exchange with Undergraduate Students in Innovation Practice at Dalian University of Technology
The “Product +” business incubation platform, with its unique model, provides strong support for the market-oriented transformation of innovations. As a carrier, π space to bring together resources from various parties, and the participation of off-campus mentors and entrepreneurs provides valuable guidance and advice to students on their entrepreneurial journey. Then we visited their engineering training center with the teacher in charge. The same person has been appointed the person in charge of the work training center and the dean of the school, which further reflects the school’s great attention to practical education and precise coordination. The advanced and complete equipment of the industrial training center, as well as its close integration with the educational philosophy of the school, provide students with an excellent practical platform. Here, theoretical knowledge and practical operation are seamlessly connected, and students can truly apply what they have learned to practice, and can enhance their hands-on ability and deepen their understanding of specialized knowledge at the same time. This integrated management model allows for optimal allocation of resources and more scientific and rational teaching arrangements. This has made the research team deeply realize the importance of a good educational management mechanism for team growth. We should attach great importance to practical education, continuously optimize resource allocation, create more practical opportunities for the team, and cultivate innovative talents who have both solid theoretical foundations and strong practical abilities.

The visit to the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Dalian University of Technology is a baptism of thought and an opportunity for the research team to grow in innovation practice, and it gives us a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the connotation and practical mode of innovation and entrepreneurship education. We will turn this valuable experience into a driving force to move forward, and bring it back to the study and work of the research group to share and progress together with the members.
