On September 10, 2024, the 9th Optoelectronics Global Conference (OGC 2024) was held in Shenzhen. Relying on the China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE), the OGC is the first global optoelectronic academic conference directly under IEEE in Asia, covering a wide range of research directions in optics, optical communication, laser, infrared, fiber-optic sensing, etc., and it is one of the most popular international conferences in academia and industry.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, Professor Huang Tianye from School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) won the Young Scientist Award in OGC 2024 (totally three award winners) for his outstanding contributions in the field of fiber laser and sensing technology. Prof. Liu Jimei from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), a follow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences and The National Academy of Engineering, presented the young scientist certificate and cup to Prof. Huang Tianye.[
Huang Tianye, professor, doctoral supervisor, IEEE Senior Member, is selected as one of the “Chutian Elites Program” and “Chutian Scholars Program” of Hubei Province, the head of Hubei Science and Technology Innovation Team, ranked “World's Top 2% Scientists---Career-long Impact Rank” in Elsevier and is an industrial professor under the “3-5-5-1 Optic Valley Talents Program” of East Lake National Hi-tech Development Zone. He is mainly engaged in the research in the field of optoelectronic information and geoscientific instruments, and has presided over 9 provincial and ministerial projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Major Scientific Instrument Development Project, Hubei Provincial Key R&D Program, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and has participated in the National Key R&D Programs and the Hubei Provincial Scientific and Technological Innovation Program (major projects) as a key member. He has published more than 100 SCI papers as the first author or corresponding author in related research fields, and has been authorized 10 national invention patents. He has been invited to write a chapter in Springers series, and published a monograph. He has been appointed as Secretary of IEEE Sensors and Systems Council, “Vice Scientific and Technical President” of Hubei Province, Director of Hubei Laser Society, and Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Photonics Technology LettersACP special issue. He won the second and third prize of Hubei Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress, the second prize of China Light Industry Federation Scientific and Technological Progress, and the OGC2024 Young Scientist Award.
