In order to ensure the safe, smooth and orderly operation of our laboratories, under the leadership of the university and school leaders, several rounds of safety inspections on the safety and hygiene of our laboratories were conducted recently, and the relevant personnel of the laboratories and postgraduate supervisors are required to carry out routine inspections at least once a week before the vacation.
On November 21, after an in-depth investigation of the construction and development of our laboratory center, Vice President Liu Jie led the head of the Laboratory and Equipment Management Department to conduct a comprehensive inspection of all the research laboratories and postgraduate studios of our School, including the operation status of the equipment inside the laboratories, hygienic environment, construction regulations and safety awareness. During the inspection, Vice President Liu Jie pointed out the problems in our laboratory and emphasized that the laboratory is the core place for scientific research and teaching, must be managed in a standardized manner with improved safety measures. The Equipment Department, schools and departments, and teachers and students should their responsibilities for laboratory safety management and work together to create a safe and stable experimental environment.
On November 22, Qu Xianghua, secretary of the Party Committee of the School, convened the heads of all departments and experimental centers to carry out comprehensive safety rectification for all laboratories and offices. Subsequently, all laboratory staff, graduate student supervisors as well as all graduate students and some undergraduates conducted a major cleanup of the laboratory, strictly inspecting all safety hazards and cleaning up laboratory debris. On December 18, the School launched another self-examination campaign and proposed specific solutions for those areas that were still not meeting the requirements.
On December 19, Deputy Dean Wen Guojun led the deputy directors and center heads of the laboratories of all departments, as well as members of the safety inspection team of the school to conduct a comprehensive safety and environmental inspection on all laboratories of our school again. During this inspection, it was found that, for most of the laboratories of our school, all kinds of management systems and operation procedures have been put on the wall and the environment was neat and tidy, but there were still some laboratories with a lot of problems. Finally, the School decided to continue to carry out a month of “Safety and Health Inspection Month” campaign, requiring all laboratory staff and graduate student supervisors to carry out comprehensive safety and health rectification in laboratories; all teachers and students must comprehensively improve laboratory safety, hygiene and hazard preventive awareness, and the safety inspection team will conduct weekly safety inspections of relevant laboratories.
