In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and the spirit of the Central Talent Work Conference, deepen the reform of the industry-education integrated training system for engineering master and doctoral program, accelerate the training of outstanding engineers, and do a good job in the construction of the Elite Institute of Engineering in conjunction with enterprises, on the afternoon of November 23, 2023, Qu Xianghua, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, led a group of 8 people, including Huang Tianye, deputy dean in charge of graduate studies, Yin Weiming and Chen Chao, supervisors of the FiberHome Joint Training School, to go to FiberHome Telecommunication for in-depth exchanges on issues related to joint master training program.
Xu Donglei, deputy general manager of the Human Resources Department of FiberHome Telecommunication, Yang Zhiyong, general manager of Wuhan Binary Semiconductor Co., Ltd., and Feng Bo, deputy general manager of Wuhan Fishlink Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. attended the meeting. The two sides discussed the current status, existing problems, and future improvements of the training mode, assessment, and management of joint training graduate students.
Deputy General Manager Xu Donglei and Secretary Qu Xianghua stated that joint training of graduate students and the training of outstanding engineers is necessary and beneficial. For schools, the cooperation can promote the integration of industry and education and cultivate engineers with excellent ability to meet the needs of enterprises; for enterprises, the early implementation of special training for students can also cultivate excellent employees with high recognition and potential.
In order to achieve win-win cooperation among the three parties in the future, the school and the enterprise had an in-depth discussion on the current situation, and reached a consensus in the following areas:
1. People-oriented joint education. In view of the characteristics and advantages of contemporary postgraduates, we should care more and communicate more, focus on “education”, understand the difficulties faced by students in education, provide assistance to them, help them embark on the path of scientific research practice, and ultimately cultivate outstanding talents for the country.
2. In response to the current problem of difficulty in balancing the time for dissertation writing and engineering practice, on the one hand, it is necessary to promote the introduction of a more suitable assessment system for face-to-face training by the upper level, and on the other hand, to strengthen communication between schools and enterprises and seek more adaptable and flexible training models.
3. Develop more a comprehensive training program and assessment system. Strengthen in-depth cooperation between the school and enterprises in enrollment, training assessment and retention of students after graduation. Realize the dual goals of successful graduation and improvement of engineering practice in the existing evaluation system.
4. It is necessary to clarify the respective training responsibilities of enterprises and the school, with clear division of labor, so as to ensure that training can be implemented effectively, and to leverage their respective strengths to improve the quality of training.
5. Both sides should reform the management and assessment system for supervisors to improve their enthusiasm for joint training students.
The promotion meeting for the construction of the Elite Institute of Engineering was a complete success. In the future, both sides will further promote the deep integration of industry, university and research, formulate a series of measures as soon as possible to solve the outstanding problems of the disconnection between the cultivation of engineering and technical talents and the production practice, and improve the student training quality in a practical way, so as to realize the collaboration among the school, students and enterprises and achieve a win-win situation for all three parties.
