Recently, Stanford University and Elsevier Data Repository released the sixth edition of the “World’s Top 2% Top Scientists 2023”. The World’s Top 2% Top Scientists are selected from nearly 7 million scientists worldwide based on a composite indicator of citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions. Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. It provides standardized information on scientists’ long-term scientific performance, which can more objectively and truthfully reflect their impact. Separate data are shown for “career-long impact (1960-2023)” and “single-year impact 2023”.

Five teachers were honored to be on the list, including Prof. Huang Tianye in the “career-long impact (1960-2023)”, and including Ding Huafeng, Huang Tianye, Ge Mingfeng, Wen Long, and Mei Shuang in the “single-year impact 2023”.

Being selected as one of the “World’s Top 2% Top Scientists” means that the scholars are have reached the top level of research in their respective disciplines, have a high level of global impact, and have made outstanding contributions to the development of their fields. This marks the increasing impact of the disciplines of mechanical engineering and information and communication engineering of this School, as well as the significant achievements made in the “double first-class” discipline construction.
