Science and Technology Cultural Festival | Our Students Achieved Good Results in the 16th “National College Students’ Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition”

From July 28th to 31st, the finals of the 16th “National College Students’ Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition” were successfully held at the Science City Campus of Chongqing Jiaotong University. Two teams from our School (mechanical team composed of 13 members and architecture team composed of 5 members) entered the national finals and won four second prizes, three third prizes, and one group third prize in the national competition (individual events). Compared to last year’s result of winning three third prizes in the national competition (individual events), the results of this competition have improved significantly and won the group prize again after five years. In addition, in the 3rd Hubei College Students’ Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition, we won 3 second prizes and 9 third prizes in the provincial competition (individual events).

A total of 400,000 students participated in the competition. Selected by the previous school-level and provincial competitions, more than 9,000 students from more than 700 colleges and universities across the country entered the finals and competed in drafting technology and innovation ability.

The “Higher Education Cup” National College Students’ Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition is the highest level national competition in graphics courses jointly sponsored by the former Teaching Guidance Committee for Engineering Drawing Courses in Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, the Cartography Technology Professional Committee of China Graphics Society, and the Product Information Modeling Professional Committee of China Graphics Society. In 2018, it was included in the national disciplinary competitions for colleges and universities by the China Association of Higher Education. The competition aims to cultivate students’ spirit of craftsmanship, stimulate their innovative consciousness, explore the development direction of graphics, and innovate the methods and means of mapping carriers. The purpose is to promote teaching, learning and reform by competition, to comprehensively improve the university students’ graphics ability, and to foster a large number of excellent talents for Made in China to Create in China.

It is reported that this School has always attached great importance to this competition, and started the event planning and mobilized students to actively participate in the competition since the beginning of the semester. On April 23, we successfully held the first China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition. Four teachers from our school, including Zhou Ye, Yang Zhan, Gan Jinqiang and Li Changping, have carried out pre-competition mobilization and organized the competition throughout the university, and have also held multiple meetings to discuss the competition, and invited senior students to answer questions, which provided comprehensive guidance and strong support for the participating students.
