On August 18-20, the final of 5th China Postgraduate Robot Innovation and Design Competition was successfully held in Changsha, Hunan Province. A team composed of graduate students, including Chen Feng, Xie Wenlong, Wan Lejin, Zhang Xudong and Wang Yu from this School participated in the competition. Under the diligent guidance of Professor Gan Jinqiang, their work “Cell Micromanipulation Robot Based on Compliant Mechanism” entered the final round successfully, and finally won the national second prize after the fierce competition in both on-site demonstration and defense.
“China Postgraduate Robot Innovation and Design Competition is one of the theme competitions of China Postgraduate Innovation and Practice Competitions. The competition is guided by the Department of Degree Management and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education, sponsored by the Association of Chinese Graduate Education and the Youth Science and Technology Center of the China Association for Science and Technology, and co-sponsored by the Intelligent Robotics Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, the Robotics Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, the Robotics Committee of the Chinese Society of Astronautics and the Robotics Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation, with the Secretariat of the organizing committee located at Harbin Institute of Technology. The competition is oriented to the needs of the national strategy of “Manufacturing Power” and aims to cultivate high-level scientific and technological innovation talents in the field of robotics, enhance the robot innovation and design capability of graduate students, serve the construction of the robot industry ecosystem, and promote the innovative development of robot technology and industry. A total of 1,177 teams from 234 training units nationwide participated in the event, submitting 1,129 works. In the end, 288 teams from 95 training units were nominated for the finals.
This School attaches great importance to the cultivation of students’ innovation ability, takes subject competitions as an important opportunity to enhance students’ innovation ability, collaborative spirit and practical problem-solving ability, supports students to stand at the forefront of scientific and technological innovation based on the needs of the society, and helps them to realize all-round development and high-quality employment.
