“Boosting Youth Dreams and Practicing Craftsman’s Sprit” – The School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information Holds the Third Special Lecture on “Dialogue · Enterprise”

On the afternoon of March 16, the third special lecture on “Dialogue · Enterprise” was held in Room 301, No. 2 Teaching Building. Dai Yongxiang, Deputy Director of the Electronic and Electrical Equipment Development Center of BYD Commercial Vehicle Research Institute and Alumni of the 2010 Automation Major, and Wu Qiping, Director of BYD Human Resources Department, were invited to give reports entitled “Development Trends of the New Energy Vehicle Industry” and “Hello, Shinning Youth” to over 180 students of the school.

Dai Yongxiang reviewed his growth history in BYD after receiving his bachelor’s degree, from being a design engineer in the Electrical Department at the beginning to being a senior section chief in the Electrical Department of the Commercial Vehicle Research Institute, to being the current deputy director of the Electronic and Electrical Development Center of Commercial Vehicle Research Institute. During the past 13 years, he has always kept in mind the teachings of his alma mater, adhered to his ideals and beliefs, and practiced the school motto of “hardworking and plain-living, being realistic and pragmatic”. As a senior, he advised the undergraduates to practice and improve their practical skills while learning professional knowledge well, to keep the mentality of continuous learning, widely explore knowledge in different fields, broaden their thinking, and bravely step into the society.

Based on the current situation and achievements of the new energy vehicle industry as well as the development reality of the company, Wu Qiping made a comprehensive introduction from four aspects: group overview, industry introduction, talent development and talent demand. As the only vehicle company in the world that has mastered the core technologies of battery, motor and electric control, as well as the entire industrial chain of new energy vehicles, BYD has always kept in mind and implemented “innovation is the first driving force leading development” proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, takes “equality, pragmatism, passion and innovation” as the core values, adheres to the development concept of “technology is king and innovation is the foundation”, takes “building a national world-class automobile brand” as the industrial goal, and is devoted to technological innovations for a better life. Wu Qiping said that the company has always taken talent as the first productive force for its successful development, and has a complete talent training system, so the company can build a good platform for aspiring young people to achieve their life ideals.

During the interactive session, the students exchanged views on talent development and training, professional skills, and other issues. This special lecture not only provides a platform for senior students to communicate with enterprises, but also provides effective guidance for junior students to construct career plans and establish a scientific and reasonable concept of employment and career selection.

The special lecture on “Dialogue · Enterprise” is the content of university-enterprise collaborative education activities of “Boosting Youth Dreams and Practicing Craftsman’s Sprit”, and is also an important measure of the school to promote employment.
