On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of CUG, Fu Xiancheng, an alumnus of Class 072951 of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information and the General Manager of Wuhan View Technology Co., Ltd, donated RMB 200,000 to CUG on September 15 to set up the “Viewtech Award”. Chen Huarong, Head of the Alumni and Social Cooperation Division, and Qu Xianghua, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, attended the donation ceremony on behalf of the University and the School. Huang Tianye, Deputy Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, presided over the donation ceremony.
Qu Xianghua delivered a welcome speech. First, he expressed his gratitude to the alumni for their care and generous help to the University. The care and support of the alumni would certainly inject more powerful momentum for the future development of CUG and also reflected the deep love and friendship of the alumni to CUG, which would be always remembered. Secondly, he expressed the touching feeling that in today's world of opportunities and challenges, the enthusiastic help of alumni would be a stronger incentive for the overall development of our School, especially for the cultivation of students. Thirdly, he expressed our actions. When we are moved, we have to take actions immediately. The School should make every effort to make progress, rigorously run the school, and take the discipline construction and talent training of the School as the driving force of our work; Teachers should keep learning and teach tirelessly to the satisfaction of the people. Students should repay the concern of the society with their outstanding achievements and live up to the ardent expectations of all sectors of society.
Chen Huarong briefly introduced the basic situation of the university in terms of discipline construction, scientific research and experimental platform construction, faculty, talent training, alumni work, etc. He said that the high-tech brand enterprises founded by alumni had set an excellent example for our innovation and entrepreneurship work, and hoped to strengthen the transformation of achievements and enhance the cooperative relationship through the building of university-enterprise laboratory platform. Finally, he thanked the alumni for their support to the cause of CUG, welcoming them back to CUG to participate in the 70th anniversary activities and witness the glory together.
Ms. Deng Qun, the class teacher of Mr. Fu Xiancheng during his school years, expressed her pleasure and happiness about the donation, recalled the time spent by the alumni during their school years, and hoped that the University and the School would be more involved in the development of alumni enterprises.
General Manager Fu Xiancheng expressed his deep affection for his alma mater, thanked the alma mater for its cultivation, hoped that the endowment fund could help the growth and success of CUG students, and wished the alma mater a successful 70th anniversary celebration.
The representatives of the three parties signed the donation agreement, according to which the “Viewtech Award” will be used to reward outstanding students and teachers with outstanding performance in teaching of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information.
