Smart Office Product Experience Innovation Workshop Came to a Successful Conclusion!

On May 28, 2022, the “Huawei Smart Office Product Experience Innovation Workshop” held by Wuhan Huawei Hardware Experience Design Department, with the joint participation of the Product Design Department of School of Art and Design, Wuhan University of Technology and the Department of Industrial Design of School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), was successfully concluded. An undergraduate team of our University won the Best Innovation Award.

A total of two teams from our University participated in the "Huawei Smart Office Product Experience Innovation Workshop", led by Ms. Chen Xiaolei, head of the Department of Industrial Design, with a total of ten undergraduate students. During the two-month period from March 28 to May 28, they went through three stages of thinking analysis and dispersion, offline co-creation, focus and design, and came up with the final innovation scheme and reported it.

In the stage of thinking analysis and dispersion, they conducted detailed preliminary research through questionnaire survey, field research, user interview and other research methods, obtained the user concept demand report, and then conducted thinking dispersion and obtained the preliminary concept list, and made a preliminary report to Huawei.

In the offline co-creation stage, they went to Huawei Wuhan Research Institute for offline co-creation and had a fierce brainstorming session on different users' needs through the "How Might We" analysis method, and finally determined the design direction.

After determining the design direction, they entered the focus and design phase. Each group drew a mind map to analyze and refine the concept again for different design directions, and discussed about the presentation forms and methods. Finally, the groups designed the final scheme more systematically, formed an innovative scheme and reported.

By participating in the "Huawei Smart Office Product Experience Innovation Workshop", students learned about the current needs of manufacturing companies for college industrial design students, and had a more intuitive experience of the complete and real design process.

Yang Chenhao from Class 074191 said, "During the project, we applied the design methods told by the teacher in class in a practical way, and in the future, I will continue to accumulate design methods to improve my learning ability."

Shang Xin’ao from Class 074191 said, "Through this workshop I realized the importance of the design itself fitting the scene, and the final design cannot be separated from the scene where the question was raised."

Mo Mingxin from Class 074192 said, "I benefited from the experience of this cooperation project with enterprises. I gained a deep understanding of the current needs of the manufacturing industry and a deeper experience of the complete design process."

Zhao Ruisi from Class 074191 said, "I gained a lot from this workshop, I realized the importance of rational use of design methods, and I will pay more attention to the accumulation of design methods in my daily study."
