Carrying Forward the Cause and Cultivating Qualified and Applicable Talents for the Future
-- The Autumn Teaching and Research Meeting Held by the Department of Electronic Information Engineering of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information
On December 6, 2021, the Department of Electronic Information Engineering of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information held an autumn teaching and research seminar, focusing on a number of topics such as the training program of Grade 19, teachers' teaching and curriculum construction, undergraduate tutoring system, engineering certification, etc. The participants fully communicated and discussed, and checked problems for the future development of the Department of Electronic Information Engineering.
At the seminar, Mr. Chen Fenxiong, head of the department, firstly reviewed the achievements of the department in the past four years.
In the past four years, students' innovation ability has been improved significantly. The students of the Department of Electronic Information Engineering has won one second prize in Hubei Province in the "Challenge Cup" Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition; two bronze prizes in Hubei Province in the "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students; five national prizes in the National Electronic Design Competition for College Students; one national prize and one prize in the South China Region in the National University Students Intelligent Car Race and 27 national prizes in ROBOWORK. The undergraduates have published five academic papers (including two SCI-indexed papers published as the first author).
Teachers' teaching and scientific research abilities have been significantly enhanced. The teachers have long been committed to the deep integration of industry, university, research and application, which has greatly promoted the improvement of teaching ability and social service ability. The Major of Electronics was awarded the first-class major in Hubei Province; the teachers of the Department of Electronic Information Engineering have won one first prize of teaching achievements in Hubei Province, ten outstanding young people of China University of Geosciences, excellent instructors of various types of innovation and entrepreneurship, one first prize of the national competition for young teachers of electrical engineering in colleges and universities, and one third prize in the Final of the National Competition for Young Teachers of Electronic Information Major in Colleges and Universities; have constructed two Hubei Provincial High-quality MOOCs; have published 12 teaching papers and more than 100 scientific research papers; and have been granted nine national invention patents and 27 software copyrights.
The Department of Electronic Information Engineering has really helped the development of the industry and achieved remarkable results in social services. Two teachers were selected for the "3551 Talents Program" of Wuhan East Lake National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, two teachers were selected for the "Yellow Crane Talents Program" in Wuhan, one teacher was appointed as the director of Hubei Laser Society and one teacher was selected for the "Chutian Scholar Program" in Hubei Province. The department has presided over many cooperative education projects of the Ministry of Education. Many teachers worked as vice presidents of science and technology or technical consultants in famous enterprises such as China Construction Third Engineering Bureau and Optics Valley Technology Co., Ltd. The department has undertaken 12 projects commissioned by enterprises. The results of three of the students' innovative activities have been applied in the product development process in the company. With research results closely integrated with the industry, they have won two second-class awards and one third-class award for science and technology progress in Hubei Province.
How to carry forward the cause and forge ahead into the future and cultivate more qualified and applicable talents was the core focus of this discussion. All the faculty members of the Department had the overall situation in mind and were working towards the same goal. The seminar lasted from 8: 30 am to the evening, with constant golden sentences and brilliant ideas, which pointed out the direction for the development of the department in the next stage.
Professor Ye Dunfan, a respected retired teacher representative, was invited to attend the seminar and put forward valuable suggestions and opinions on how to do well in teaching and research, which was warmly welcomed by the participating teachers.
