Laboratory Safety Inspection in Our School

In order to implement the work requirements of laboratory safety inspection organized by the university and learn from the lessons of laboratory safety accidents in Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, at 9:00 a.m. on October 26, 2021, the school held a party committee meeting and party-government joint meeting to arrange safety management-related work. At 3:30 p.m. on October 28, Wen Guojun, the deputy dean in charge of laboratories in our school, led a laboratory safety inspection team consisting of the laboratory center and the heads of laboratories in each department to conduct a comprehensive field safety hazard inspection of our laboratories and postgraduate studios located in No. 2 Teaching Building and the Engineering Laboratory Building.

The inspection team focused on the implementation of laboratory regulations and safety regular inspection system, laboratory environmental conditions, management and use of hazardous chemicals, laboratory access and emergency plans, safety education and safety responsible persons, and safety of laboratory water and electricity use. The inspection team also listened to the report of the laboratory safety inspection team, as well as the opinions and suggestions on the future construction of laboratory environment, safety and equipment updates. At the same time, the inspection team put forward guidance on the placement of newly procured laboratory equipment and the maximum use of space, the display of laboratory innovations, and the safety of special laboratory equipment.

Finally, Wen Guojun stressed that laboratory safety was closely related to the direct interests of all teachers and students, and it was necessary to effectively strengthen the daily management of laboratory, strengthen the awareness of safety precautions, take the initiative to implement safety responsibilities, and put an end to any laboratory safety accidents.
