School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information Holds the Opening Ceremony for 2021 Graduate Students

At 14: 10 p.m. on September 15, our School held the opening ceremony for 2021 graduate students at Room 207 of No. 3 Teaching Buiding. Qu Xianghua, Ding Huafeng, Li Bo, Luo Jie, Wen Guojun and Huang Tianye, leaders of the School, Hao Guocheng, chairman of labor union, department heads and Party branch secretaries, master supervisors, graduate teaching secretaries, graduate counselors and all 2021 graduate students attended the ceremony.

Professor Ding Huafeng, Dean of the School, delivered a speech, extentding a warm welcome to the graduate students of Grade 2021 on behalf of the School. Ding Huafeng put forward several requirements to the students. First, we should set up ambitious ideals and be rooted in high-end manufacturing industry. He hoped that the students would firmly devote themselves to the manufacturing industry, work hard to develop excellent skills, and aspire to become leading talents in the manufacturing industry. Second, we should be brave in innovation and do high-level academic research. He urged students to master the essence of research, acquire the ability to innovate, and learn to “stand on the shoulders of giants and look into the distance”. Third, they should persevere. He encouraged students to actively explore and keep their enthusiasm in the process of research.

Professor Li Min from the Department of Mechanical Engineering spoke on behalf of the supervisors. She suggested that students should cultivate their feelings to family and country, adhere to the initial mission of serving the country, and strive to shoulder the historical responsibility of independent innovation and national rejuvenation; should forge ahead and show the beautiful style of youth; should uphold the attitude of seeking truth from facts, being scientific and rigorous, carry forward the fine study style of "being strict in CUG", and integrate the spirit of seeking truth from facts and the scientific and rigorous attitude into all aspects of scientific research and study.

Liang Changduo, a representative of senior students and a 2020 doctoral student in geological equipment engineering, made a speech. Combined with his graduate study and life experience, he talked freely about the research and persistence on the road of scientific research, and hoped that the students could "learn by the law", "ask the right questions" and "act in accordance with the rules".

Zhao Bingchen, a representative of the new students and a master's student of Grade 2021 in Electronic Information, made a speech. He shared his colorful four-year undergraduate experience and his initial intention for graduate study. On behalf of all freshmen, he promised that they would devote themselves to academics and do well in scientific research, shoulder the responsibilities with arms, step into the future with solid knowledge and excellent quality, and show the spiritual outlook of CUG students.

After the ceremony, the postgraduate of Grade 2021 had an intensive admission education. Professor Huang Tianye, deputy dean of the School, taught the first lesson for the students, and explained the postgraduate training program and related management regulations.

Peng Guanjun, deputy director of the Security Department of the University, and Wang Dong, police officer of Yujiashan Police Station, gave safety warning education to freshmen, popularized campus safety knowledge for everyone, and reminded students to guard against online fraud.

Du Yu, a freshman counselor, introduced the requirements of postgraduate management, scholarship application and epidemic prevention and control, and urged students to abide by rules and regulations and pay attention to epidemic prevention.

Finally, Jin Tian, a member of the Presidium of the Postgraduate Union, introduced the general situation of the Postgraduate Union and welcomed the students to join the Postgraduate Union to serve the students around them and expand their personal abilities.

It is understood that there are 227 graduate students enrolled in our school this year, including 9 doctoral students and 218 master students. In the near future, they will carry out various entrance education activities one after another under the overall arrangement of the school.
