(Reported by Liu Fuchu) Recently, “Yongguan Cup” 12th China Foundry Process Design Competition for College Students was held in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Since the competition was commenced in Sept. 2020, totally 838 pieces of works from 72 universities and colleges (CUG firstly took part in the competition) had taken in the competition, among which 351 pieces of works had been selected for comparison (312 pieces in undergraduate group and 39 pieces in postgraduate group). These 838 pieces of works had been accomplished by 1131 undergraduates and 70 postgraduates. Through the independent anonymous review by the experts and inter-group discussion and reexamination, 2 pieces of works in undergraduate group selected by School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information were finally awarded the third prize. The works and the personnel were shown as follows: Group A: QT500 bearer (Xiao Jingyi, Li Lifan, Xu Feiyang and Liu Xuefeng), Group B: ZG35CrMo planet carrier (Wang Zhifeng, Dai Yujiao, Zhang Qing and Wei Lifu). The guidance teacher was Liu Fuchu.

China Foundry Process Design Competition for College Students is one of the professional competitions among National College Mechanical Innovation Competitions, sponsored by Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and undertaken by Foundry Branch of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and held once every year. It aims to encourage the students to learn the foundry expertise, improve the practical operation skills, offer a platform for social practice, create the beneficial conditions for the employment of the undergraduates, cultivate the excellent talents for the foundry enterprises and accelerate the development of the foundry industry in China. In Feb. 2020 and Mar. 2021, this competition was respectively ranked into 2015-2019 Ranking of Subjects Competition in National Universities and Colleges and 2020 Ranking of Subjects Competition in National Universities and Colleges (35th place).
