Recently, the fourth session of the 13th National People’s Congress of the people’s Republic of China and the 4th session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference were held in Beijing. The teachers and students of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information have paid close attention to the process of the two sessions through mobile phone, computer, radio and other channels, to learn the spirit and discuss hot topics of the two sessions.

Yu Xiaozhou, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, said that in 2020, in the face of the breakout of COVID-19, economic downturn, changeable international situation and other severe tests, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people were not afraid of difficulties and dangers, and had delivered an "extraordinary answer paper" which made the Chinese people proud and the world marvel, fully demonstrating the superiority of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. In March 2021, the two sessions relating to people’s livelihood and well-being were held in warm spring as scheduled, which was not only a major event in China’s political life, but also a “window” for the world to observe China closely; not only a gesture, but also a confidence and bearing of a great power. The undergraduate students in the new era should seriously study and implement the spirit of the two sessions, take struggle as the main tone of youth, integrate personal growth into the process of building a strong motherland, and write a new chapter for the young generation at the historical intersection!

Hao Guocheng, Chairman of the Labor Union and Associate Professor of Communication Engineering, believed that, to study the spirit of the two sessions, we should focus on the development of new engineering, think about the construction connotation of "new engineering majors and new requirements of engineering science", and explore how to improve the comprehensive ability of talents. As front-line teachers, we shouldered the dual functions of cultivating students and serving the society, we had the responsibility and obligation to keep up with the development pace of the country and the times, promote the "integration of teaching and research", strengthen the "collaborative development", and aim at the future development needs. The two sessions coincide with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, and “COVID-19” and the international environment made us understand the responsibilities and missions of engineering people. He said that we would continue to carry forward the University motto of “work hard, keep modest, and pursue truth and pragmatism”, strengthen the ideological and political construction in the classroom, attach equal importance to "imparting" and "educating", strive to cultivate students' core literacy, care for our family and country, carry forward our cause and forge ahead into the future, and strive for the prosperity and strength of the motherland.

Liu Biao, a counselor of the School, said that 2021 was the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the beginning year of the new journey of building a socialist modern country in an all-round way, so the two sessions in this year were of great significance to students at such a special historical juncture. The “14th five year plan and the outline of long-term goals for 2035” adopted at the meeting had pointed out the future development direction, as students of "new engineering" departments, what they have learned should adapt to the socialist modernization construction and the development direction of the “Plan and Outline”. In the great era, the students of our School should cherish the present, take the initiative, follow the trend, and be a trendsetter in the new era!

Xiao Fan, a graduate student majoring in Information and Communication Engineering in 2019, said: “the government work report made in this year is extremely exciting. The goals of “13th five year plan” have been successfully completed, poverty alleviation has won a comprehensive victory, and epidemic prevention and control has achieved major strategic achievements.
