(Reporter: Zeng Ming, Du Yu) Recently, the competition in Hubei Division of the Ninth National College Mechanical Innovation Design Competition ended successfully. After competition with the students from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University and Wuhan University of Technology and other colleges and universities, the six teams selected by our School finally won two first prizes, three second prizes and one third prize.
The National College Mechanical Innovation Design Competition is an important extracurricular competition for science and engineering held every two years by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education. The main purpose of the competition is to strengthen the students’ practical ability and improve their practical ability in mechanical innovation design and production according to the actual needs. It has been successfully held for eight times. The theme of the Ninth National College Mechanical Innovation Design Competition (2020) is “smart home, happy family”, which focuses on the design and production of mechanical devices used to help the elderly live alone or for modern smart home.
It is understood that the Academic Affairs Office of the University and our School attached great importance to this competition and had organized an on-campus selection contest in November 2019 to select the student teams for the competition and had given effective guidance. Affected by COVID-19, the students could not return to school in time, which brought difficulties to the improvement and production of entries. However, under the guidance of professional teachers, the students from our School still studied hard, actively prepared, and continuously optimized and perfected the works, and finally achieved gratifying results. Taking this competition as an opportunity, the School will promote the students’ engineering practice ability, innovative design consciousness and team spirit, so as to continuously improve the talent training quality.
