The Seminar on Graduate Education of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information was Held Smoothly

On the morning of October 15, the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information held a special seminar on “improving the quality of graduate education” in the Conference Room 502, No. 2 Teaching Building. Representatives of graduate school, employment and entrepreneurship guidance office, School of International Education, the leading group of School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, department heads, teachers’ representatives and graduate representatives attended the seminar which was presided over by Huang Tianye, deputy dean of the School.

Huang Tianye, deputy dean of the School, introduced the theme of the seminar, and reported on the scale of graduate students, the situation of disciplines and degree programs, and the training modes of graduate students. According to the difficulties and problems to be solved in the graduate education, he put forward the measures for improving the quality of graduate education. Then, the participants exchanged and discussed based on their own work experience.

Du Yu, a graduate counselor teacher, made suggestions on promoting the ideological and political education of the whole staff, and strengthening the international training and the mental health of postgraduates. Chen Xiaoli, director of art design department, Han Guangchao, deputy director of mechanical department, Hou Qiang, deputy director of communication department and Zhang Xiangli, deputy director of electronic information department, exchanged and discussed on postgraduate education, academic innovation and the entrepreneurship and employment of graduate students. Wu Laijie, Tao Jiaxiang and Cheng Siyi, the representatives of teaching staff, put forward detailed suggestions on postgraduate curriculum, college-enterprise joint education and academic exchange. Han Lei and Ye Lingqiao, representatives of graduate students, put forward suggestions on improving the graduate students’ comprehensive ability and the construction of production, teaching and research base.

Yan Jia from the Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Office said that the performance of our School in employment rate, employment quality, innovation and entrepreneurship, scientific research competition and discipline competition was very good, and the School had provided many excellent talents for the society. He proposed that the School should continue to promote the cooperation and the integration development with enterprises, assign the specific responsibilities for supervisor as the first responsible person, assist graduate education with the resources of the University, provide employment guidance for graduating students in a timely manner, and relieve the employment pressure of graduate students.

Zhang Li, a representative of the Graduate School, expressed her gratitude to the teachers and students for their constructive opinions on graduate education, and expressed that the graduate school would collect the problems raised by various training units, collect the common problems and individual problems, put forward solutions, form documents and promote the implementation in accordance with the standards of moral cultivation, service demand, quality improvement and seeking excellence. In the meanwhile, she hoped that the School could sort out the school-level problems reflected by teachers and students, effectively solve the problems, and promote the development of graduate education.

Yu Xiaozhou, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, made a summary speech. She fully affirmed the achievements of the meeting and expressed her gratitude to the school, the teachers and students for their opinions and suggestions on the problems existing in graduate education. She mentioned that graduate education was the top of the national education system, and the quality of graduate talent education was related to the national strategic layout. The School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information would carry out the work deployment in combination with the school running thought discussion and the upcoming graduate education conference, sort out the difficulties and shortcomings put forward by teachers and students, and continuously promote the reform of graduate education, so as to improve the quality of graduate education.

This seminar on graduate education is a big discussion on the school running ideas focusing on improving the quality of graduate education in view of the problems existing in the graduate education of the University and School. At the seminar, everyone spoke enthusiastically and put forward corresponding opinions and suggestions for the existing problems, which provided a scheme and support for promoting the reform of graduate education, promoting the construction of research-oriented university and cultivating high-level students.
