【News】 Devoting to Mechanical and Electronic Undertakings and Building a Strong China —— The First Class for the 2020 Undergraduates Held by the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information

In the class, Ding Huafeng first introduced the situation of the University and the School from two aspects in details: the historical changes of CUG and the training plan. He hoped that students would cherish their university days, make full use of all kinds of practice opportunities provided by the university and school, and bloom themselves on the campus stage.

Ding Huafeng pointed out that with the development of the times, the mechanical and electronic industry was indispensable in all kinds of human production, especially in the new era, the mechanical and electronic industry would be full of infinite possibilities in the field of artificial intelligence. He specially selected two popular technologies in the industry -- robot technology and chip technology, and introduced tactile control, intelligent control, man-machine interface, chip production and other key technologies through detailed materials and vivid illustrations. He hoped that all the students of the School should be aware of their sacred mission, work hard, study hard, and make contributions to the comprehensive construction of a powerful socialist country.

Ding Huafeng stressed that all new students should quickly adapt to the university environment and plan their university life in advance. He pointed out that entering university from high school was a process from "three points and one line" to "all flowers bloom together", campus life would be rich and colorful, the students should distinguish between primary and secondary, and participate in various activities on the premise of completing their academic tasks, so as to avoid ending in melancholy. He said that freshmen should enrich themselves, train some skills needed in the future, avoid blind passion and wrong direction of efforts, keep pace with the times, accumulate professional knowledge, and make corresponding plans; sophomores and juniors should grow from "new soldiers" to "generals", actively participate in professional practice activities, so that their theoretical and practical ability could be trained and improved; in the senior year, they should accept the review of the talent market and open a wonderful social life. He hoped that students would form learning teams according to their personal interests, highlight the improvement of professional skills, encourage themselves with excellent examples, and take actions for their ideals.

Ding Huafeng asked all students to make a four-year long-term plan and the small goals of each semester. In daily life, we should pay attention to time management, train innovative thinking, strengthen the training of language expression ability, improve communication skills and pay attention to the cultivation of six abilities such as mental health. Finally, he hoped that the students would learn to be human, learn to do things, be a super scholar with "open eyes", forge ahead and strive to be the first.
