【News】Solemnly Swear in the Name of Youth --- The School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information Held the Opening Ceremony for 2020 Undergraduates

The students of Grade 2020 of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information solemnly swore in the name of youth at the opening ceremony: “I will have lofty aspirations and care for my family and country; love our university and school, cultivate my moral integrity; be united, friendly, honest and trustworthy……” The sonorous and loud voice of oath resounded through No. 3 Teaching Building.

On the morning of September 30, the opening ceremony for 2020 undergraduates of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information was solemnly held in Room 109 of No. 3 Teaching Building. The party and government leaders of our School, the heads of tertiary units, class teachers of Grade 2020, teacher representatives, counselors and all the 2020 undergraduate students attended the ceremony

The ceremony was presided over by Yu Xiaozhou, deputy Party secretary of our School.

At 8:30, the ceremony began with the singing of national anthem by teachers and students.

With warm applause, Dean Ding Huafeng delivered a speech. On behalf of all the teachers and students, he first extended a warm welcome to the new students. He hoped that the students would practice the anti epidemic spirit with a down-to-earth attitude, persistent quality and the habit of diligent research and good thinking. In their study, they should not be hesitant, slack, and stop, but should have the courage to try and challenge, and write their life with the pen of youth.

Xu Linhong, a faculty representative, pointed out in her speech that the majority of new students should not seize the day and live it to the full, adapt to the new environment as soon as possible, enhance their own competitiveness, develop the habit of diligent study, and actively enrich their study and life.

Wang Yezi, a senior student majoring in communication in 2018, shared her understanding of college life. She hoped that the new students of grade 2020 could cherish their dreams and opportunities, and strive to grow.

Ma Xue from Class 07J205 spoke on behalf of all the freshmen. She was looking forward to becoming the ideal self in the coming four years.

Later, Yu Xiaozhou, deputy Party secretary, read out the military training commendation decision, calling on all 2020 new students to continue to maintain the fine style of work during the military training period, adhere to the school motto of hard work and plain living, seeking truth and pragmatism, and strive for greater achievements in future study and life. Li Bo, Luo Jie and Wen Guojun, deputy deans of the School, awarded the honorary certificates to 45 students respectively.

The awarding ceremony of appointment letters to 2020 class teachers was specially arranged at the ceremony. Our School has always attached great importance to the construction of class teacher team, especially in recent years, the class teacher has been playing an important role in guiding the healthy growth of students. In the solemn music, Qu Xianghua, Secretary of the Party committee, and Ding Huafeng, Dean of the School, awarded the appointment letters to 2020 class teachers.

Qu Xianghua, Secretary of the Party committee of the School, made a concluding speech. He pointed out that 2020 was an extraordinary year, the world pattern was unpredictable and invisible smoke was everywhere, so the students should strengthen their ideals and beliefs and shoulder the responsibility of the times. He stressed that all new students should have lofty aspirations, have the confidence and determination to make progress, work out reasonable learning plans at the new starting point of the new journey, improve their comprehensive quality, and strive to become an excellent talent with good morality, diligent learning, diligent thinking and unity of knowledge and practice.

At the end of the ceremony, under the leadership of three new students, all 2020 undergraduates raised their right fist to solemnly swear. Swearing is not only a promise, but also an incentive. The sonorous oath expresses the expectation of the new students for the future. They will firm their ideals and beliefs, cultivate their national feelings, cultivate good character, live up to their youth, bravely climb the scientific peak without fear of hard work, and make unremitting efforts to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

 The ceremony ended in the singing of “My Motherland and Me” by all teachers and students.
