【News】The School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information Holds the Orientation Ceremony for Graduate Students of Grade 2020

     (Correspondent: Xiao Fan) At 15:00 p.m. on September 16, the orientation ceremony for 2020 graduate students was held in Room 111 of No. 3 Teaching Building. Leaders of the School, including Qu Xianghua, Ding Huafeng, Yu Xiaozhou, Li Bo, Wen Guojun, Luo Jie and Huang Tianye, department heads, Party branch secretaries, graduate tutors, graduate teaching secretaries, graduate counselors and all 2020 graduate students attended the ceremony.

 Yu Xiaozhou, deputy secretary of the Party committee, presided over the ceremony.

 All the teachers and students rose and sang the national anthem.

 Dean Prof. Ding Huafeng delivered a speech, and extended a warm welcome to 2020 graduate students on behalf of the School. He put forward several requirements for the students: the first is to have firm faith and be determined to become talents. The students should study independently, make progress in learning and thinking, and establish a correct outlook on life, world and values. The second is to adhere to academic integrity and academic ethics and respect the academic achievements of others. The third is to strengthen the communication with tutors and students, and broaden scientific research thinking through the interaction between teachers and students. The fourth is to cultivate scientific research literacy and master scientific research methods. The scientific research is hard and difficult, so we should keep exploring, dare to climb, accumulate experience in the process of scientific research, and improve our scientific research ability.

Deputy Professor Hao Guocheng, supervisor representative and doctoral supervisor of Communication Engineering Department, delivered a speech. He suggested that the students should pay attention to personality cultivation to cultivate noble aspiration and interest, adhere to the spirit of the school motto of “hard working and plain living, truth-seeking and pragmatic”, make reasonable planning and be strict with yourself, cultivate the questioning thinking and the ability of criticism and independent thinking, and be a strong, optimistic and diligent person.

 Yao Xiangyu, the representative of senior students and 2017 doctoral candidate in geological equipment engineering, delivered a speech. Based on his own experience of postgraduate study and life, he talked about his research and persistence in scientific research, and hoped that the students would be able to burst out ambition, build patience, never forget their original intention and keep love.

 Pang Yifei, the freshman representative of 2020 master candidate in mechanical engineering, delivered a speech. She shared her four years of colorful undergraduate experience and her original intention for graduate study. On behalf of all the new students, she promised that they would stick to the original intention, be brave in innovation, keep perseverance, and strive to be the builder, pioneer and practitioner of the new era.

 After the ceremony, the graduate students of grade 2020 received centralized entrance education. Professor Huang Tianye, deputy dean of the school, taught the students the first lesson and interpreted the postgraduate training program and relevant management regulations.

  According to information, there are a total of 201 graduate students enrolled in this year, including 9 doctoral students and 192 master degree candidates. Under the overall arrangement of the School, various entrance education activities will be carried out for them in the near future.
