On July 6, Professor Zhang Chi from Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, delivered an academic lecturer entitled “Fast High Resolution Spectral Analysis Technology based on Time Domain Focusing and Its Application” in the our School.
Spectral analysis technology is an important means to study the interaction between light and matter. With the demand by fast dynamic process research, the requirement on sampling frequency of spectral analysis is getting higher. In the traditional spectrum analysis system based on spatial dispersion, the speed of mechanical scanning grating is limited, and the fast dynamic spectrum can not be observed, and the detection rate of spectrum can be greatly improved by replacing spatial dispersion with time-domain dispersion of fiber, but only the pulse absorption spectrum can be observed in the process of dispersion stretching. In order to overcome this limitation, the real-time conversion of spectral information to time axis can be realized by using the characteristics of Fourier transform of time domain lens in focal plane, so as to realize the measurement of arbitrary emission/absorption spectrum and the spectral sampling frame rate up to 100 MHz. In this lecture, it focused on the theoretical basis and implementation of reconstructing time-wavelength sequence; by combining with on-chip parametric mixing technology, high-order dispersion control technology, difference frequency dual optical frequency comb technology, time-domain stability technology and time-domain aperture synthesis technology, the bandwidth, resolution and absolute accuracy of optical spectrum analysis could be improved, the application of time-domain spectral analysis system was explored, and some ultrafast spectral dynamic processes were observed.
The academic lecture was presided over by Professor Huang Tianye, Deputy Dean of our School, and the teachers and postgraduates attended the lecture. Professor Zhang Chi had a heated discussion with the teachers and students after the lecture.
