On the morning of June 8, in order to promote the employment of industrial design undergraduates in 2020, Yu Xiaozhou, deputy Party secretary of the School, and Wen Guojun, deputy dean of the School, convened the leadership team of the Department of Industrial Design, the class advisers of graduation classes, and the graduate counselors to conduct a special discussion on the employment of undergraduates in this major. Luo Caiwei, a counselor, first reported the current situation of the unemployed students in industrial design from three aspects: employment rate of each class, students' employment, going abroad and key and difficult cases. Subsequently, Xiao Chang, Secretary of the Party branch of the Department of Industrial Design, Chen Xiaoli, head of the Department, Zhang Binbin, deputy head of the Department, Gao Hengqiang, a class adviser, Yang Zhan and other teachers respectively exchanged the communication with the students in the early stage, the academic problems of the unemployed students, the difficulties in current work and the ideas for follow-up work.
Wen Guojun, the deputy dean, pointed out at the meeting that at present, a lot of measures had been taken to help students for employment by the grade and School, but the students received information passively. The class advisers and professional teachers should deeply understand the students’ individual differences, and provide targeted support measures for their studies and employment.
Finally, Yu Xiaozhou, deputy Party secretary, stressed that the employment of students was related to personal development, improvement of people's livelihood, social stability and the overall development of the School. At present, the employment of graduates in 2020 had reached the most critical juncture, which required us to invest more time and energy to help students to find jobs first and then choose a career, so as to take the first step into the society. We should further give play to the role of peer guidance among students, and should provide one-on-one partnership assistance by the employed student party members and student backbones. Affected by the epidemic, the students had stayed at home for a long time, neither parents nor students could directly and truly feel the pressure of social recruitment and employment, which led to inaccurate positioning or blindly optimistic about the future. Therefore, we should strengthen the communication with the students’ parents, explain the current employment policy of the university, and help students to find the right positions and face the social challenges. Through the joint efforts of the teachers and students, we hope that the employment of graduates will be successfully completed.
