Notice on Campus Open Day for Postgraduate Admissions in 2021

In order to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on postgraduate education, the spirit of the first national conference on postgraduate education and the spirit of graduate education meeting of the University, to further deepen the reform of postgraduate education, to focus on improving the quality of postgraduate students, to explore the selection mechanism of top innovative talents, and to further enhance the quality of postgraduate education, the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) will hold the 2021 campus open day from June 28 to 29.

The campus open day activities for postgraduate admissions mainly include the propaganda of admission policies, discipline interpretation, the interaction between supervisors and students, the written examination and the interview assessment. We welcome the 2022 graduates who have recommended exam-free qualification or are willing to apply for our School.

I. Preferential policies for admission

1. In the campus open day activities, if you get the certificate of qualification and get the qualification of recommended exam-free candidate from your university, you will be given priority to be admitted as a master degree candidate (academic or professional) in 2022, and enjoy the first-class scholarship in the first year.

2. In the campus open day activities, the students of Grade 2018 who have passed the examination and obtained the certificate of qualification will be given priority to be admitted and enjoy the first-class scholarship in the first year, if he/she takes part in the 2022 national master entrance examination and apply for our School as the first choice, with the major applied for consistent with the major in the certificate of qualification and the preliminary examination results reaching the “score lines for second-round examination” of corresponding major, passes the physical examination, and agrees to adjustment.

3. The distribution plan of qualification certificate for each major (the actual distribution number of each major should not exceed the planned number) is shown in the table below. The number of shortlisted persons for each major should not exceed 120% of the distribution plan.

4. Excellent campers will be selected according to the actual performance of the participants, will be granted the qualification certificate by major according to the comprehensive assessment results from high to low, and will enjoy relevant policy support. Failure to get the certificate within the time limit will be regarded as abandoning the qualification.

III. Participants and application conditions

1. Undergraduates of Grade 2018 majoring in mechanical design and manufacture and automation, electronic information engineering, and communication engineering (or related majors) from first-class universities and disciplines: ranking top 50% of corresponding major or with strong interest in scientific research, strong innovation ability and outstanding academic achievements, etc. (with relevant supporting materials such as scientific research achievements and competitions, as well as recommendation letters from two associate professors and above in the professional field of the students).

2. Undergraduates of Grade 2018 majoring in mechanical design and manufacture and automation, electronic information engineering and communication engineering (or related majors) from provincial key universities (non first-class universities and disciplines): excellent academic performance, ranking top 10% of corresponding major in the first 3 years (or the first 5 semesters). In case of failing to meet the above requirements, at least one provincial and above academic competition award (ranking first) is required; or at least one T5 (T5 is equivalent to the core journal according to the journal classification method of our University) or above paper (first author), or invention patent (the first inventor), or utility model patent (the first inventor); or excellent conclusion of the innovation and entrepreneurship training project for college students as the project leader (or key member).

3. Good English skills, CET-4 425 or above, or other kinds of foreign language examination results equivalent to the score.

IV. Registration materials

1. One copy of application form of 2021 Campus Open Day for Postgraduate Admissions of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) (see the annex. Note that the forms filled in by students from our University and other universities are different. Double-sided printing), and the major applied for should be indicated in the application form;

2. Scanned copy of ID card and student card;

3. Scanned copy of CET-4 and CET-6 report card;

4. Undergraduate transcripts and ranking information in the school or department (copies must be stamped with the official seal of the academic affairs office or the school or department);

5. Other supporting materials (published papers, awards, etc.)

Note: Students from our University are only required to provide registration materials 1, 2 and 3. For students from other universities, please put the application materials 2-5 into a PDF file.

V. Registration procedure

1. Students from other universities are required to log in to the online registration system of the campus open day for undergraduate admissions for online registration, to upload the scanned copies of ID card, student card, undergraduate transcript and ranking information to the registration system, and scan the application form (see Annex 1) into a PDF file after signing and sealing, with the name of “university - major and code - Chinese name”, at the same time, name the registration materials 2-5 (organized into a PDF file) in student name and send it to 1849763590@qq.com. Students from our University must log in to the online registration system of the campus open day for undergraduate admissions for online registration to upload scanned copies of ID card and student card to the registration system, and scan the signed and sealed application form (see Annex 2) and CET-4 and CET-6 transcripts  to a PDF file with the name of “university - major and code - Chinese name”, and send it to 1849763590@qq.com;

Registration deadline: June 14, 2021.

2. The School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information will organize experts to review and determine the shortlist for the second-round examination. The shortlist will be published on the homepage of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) before June 22. If you give up the qualification for some reason, please inform our School before June 24. There will be no further notice to the students who are not on the published list.

VI. Assessment content and score calculation 

Second-round examination will mainly test the candidates’ ideological and political quality, professional quality, innovation ability, foreign language level, cultivation potential, and mental health, etc.

1.  Written examination of specialized courses (totally 100 points): the subjects for written examination are in the table below. The written examination time will last 120 minutes.

2. Interview (totally 100 points): Comprehensive assessment of candidates’ mastery of theoretical knowledge and application skills of the subject (major), their ability to discover, analyze and solve problems by using the theories they have learned, their understanding of the dynamic development of the subject and their potential development in the professional field, their listening and speaking ability in foreign languages, their innovative spirit, innovative ability and comprehensive quality, etc.

3. Score calculation: total score = written test × 50% + interview results × 50%. The total score is 100 points, accurate to one decimal place.

VII. Points for attention 

1. If false registration materials or certificates are found, all qualifications obtained therefrom will be cancelled, and the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information reserves the right to investigate;

2. Students participating in the open day activities must abide by the relevant regulations of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and participate in the activities according to the unified arrangement;
