[International Exchange] Notice of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information on Undergraduate Summer Study Tour in 2025 to Newcastle, UK

In order to improve the talent education quality and expand the international vision of the students in this School, this School has established a short-term study visit cooperation program with Newcastle University in the United Kingdom, and hereby informs the following matters about the summer study tour in 2025:
I. Project Overview
Newcastle University (Newcastle University), located in Newcastle, England, is a public research university. It is a public research university located in Newcastle, England, with the trump majors of science, engineering and law. The university is a member of the Red Brick Universities.
This program is designed for characteristics of the electromechanical disciplines, and students will study software engineering and Python programming (including artificial intelligence) in full English at Newcastle University (see attachment for the syllabus). Basic concepts, experience and knowledge in all stages of the software engineering lifecycle (i.e. demand analysis, design, coding, testing and maintenance). Special emphasis will be placed on the development of programming skills. The course will adopt an active learning, problem-based approach. Students will be provided with a series of practical problems related to each phase of the software engineering lifecycle and how to solve these problems. The course will thus provide students with a good foundation for future careers in related professional fields such as artificial intelligence, computer security, bioinformatics, gaming, software engineering, data analysis, etc.
The program aims to improve students' international perspective, English proficiency, self-learning ability, research quality, teamwork, leadership and innovation ability by organizing activities with engineering characteristics such as classroom teaching, laboratory teaching, academic exchange, lectures on the frontiers of science and technology and interaction with renowned professors.
All students participating in the program will receive a certificate of study tour from Newcastle University in the UK, and this School can recognize 2 credits of elective courses based on this.
II. Selection Requirements
The number of students in this short-term study tour program is 15, and the selection targets are the outstanding undergraduates in this School.
The selection will be based on the following basic conditions:
1. With good political quality, upholding the four cardinal principles, loving the socialist motherland, and no illegal and disciplinary records;
2. Excellent academic performance with an average score of at least 80, or a GPA of at least 3.0, and no failed courses during the study period;
3. Meeting the language requirements for study in the country or institution of study, and have strong listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in foreign languages;
4. Being mentally active, having a sense of pioneering and innovation, and the postgraduates shall also have a certain level of academic excellence;
5. Being physically and mentally healthy and able to successfully complete the mission of visiting and studying abroad;
6. Having paid all the fees formulated by this university;
7. Having not received similar financial support during his or her study at the university;
8. Under the same conditions, priority will be given to the students from economically disadvantaged families.
III. Program details
1. Estimated duration of the program: July 10, 2025 to July 21, 2025
2. Financial support: This School will provide special funds to support the program, including tuition fees for study tour (RMB 32,000 Yuan), round-trip international air tickets, accommodation fees, foreign car fares, visa fees, etc. Upon return from the study tour program, they will give lectures and defend within the School, and different levels of financial support are provided based on their overall performance.
