In order to further enhance the combat effectiveness of the Youth League and student organizations of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, improve the sense of responsibility and teamwork ability of the Youth League student leaders, clarify the work objectives, and set the work benchmark, this school held the 2022 annual work assessment and appraisal meeting for the Youth League and student organization at Room 301 of No. 2 Teaching Building, on the evening of March 14. Du Yu, secretary of the Youth League Committee, Ding Yufeng, deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee and the instructor of the Student Union, counselor Liu Biao and Luo Caiwei, and part-time counselor Liu Qianyi, Wang Yiyan and Zhang Song were the judges, and members of the organizations of the Youth League and Student Union participated in the meeting, which was chaired by Xing Jianing, part-time deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee.

In the work report session, the Student Union, Science and Innovation Center, Media Center, Aesthetic Education Center, Club Management Department, Volunteer Association, Graduate Student Association, Information and Propaganda Department, Organization Department and Secretary Department reported on their work in 2022, the existing shortcomings, countermeasures, and the work plan for the new year. They said that they would continue to strictly implement the work requirements of the Youth League committees of the university and school, and would be a bridge and link between the university and students as well as the school and students.

After the report, students and teachers on the scene asked questions about the work of each department, focusing on how the Student Union should further do practical things for students, how the Media Center can improve the quality of original tweets on the official account, how associations and school teams can further reach out to students, how the Volunteer Association can better promote volunteerism, and how to improve the effectiveness of the monthly evaluation of classes and League branches. The relevant organizations and departments responded in detail to the issues discussed and provide appropriate solutions. At the meeting, the judges scored the replies of organizations and made suggestions for their future work.

Ding Yufeng affirmed the work achievements of the organizations in the previous year. He emphasized that in order to give full play to the role of an organization or department, it is necessary to clarify the organization’s own positioning and core objectives, always pay attention to the practical needs of students, make reasonable use of various resources of the university and school, and actively serve the students. He commented on the PPT production and defense performance of each organization, and gave guidance on the key points of PPT production and defense skills.

Du Yu made a concluding speech. He said that in the past year, in accordance with the work plan of the Party Committee, the organizations of the Youth League and Student Union focused on the three central tasks of ideological and political leadership, grass-roots organization construction and comprehensive quality improvement to continuously improve the leading force, organizational force and service force, and have achieved good results. He also pointed out that there are still some problems in the work of Youth League and student organizations, such as implementation but lack of initiative and innovation, systematic but lack of coordination and communication, effective but lack of feedback and publicity, targeted but lack of organization and mobilization. For these problems, he proposed four suggestions. First, strengthen theoretical learning and improve the work ability; second, enhance initiative awareness and strengthen communication; third, truly approach young people and provide good student service; fourth, comprehensively open up our horizons and dare to innovate continuously.
