“Xiangyang” Youth League School of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information Starts the Student Leaders Training Course for the Academic Year 2022-2023

In order to study the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, implement the important thoughts of General Secretary Xi Jinping on youth work, strengthen the ideological and political guidance for young students, and strive to train a group of young Marxists and advanced student leaders with firm ideals and beliefs, on November 12, the student leaders training course of “Xiangyang” Youth League School for the Academic Year 2022-2023 was started at Room 110 of No. 3 Teaching Building. Guo Xiaoyu, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the University, Yu Xiaozhou, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Du Yu, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School, teachers of the Student Affairs Leading Group, student leaders of the league organizations and all undergraduate classes participated in the activity. The activity was hosted by Ding Yufeng, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School.

In the song of Communist Youth League of China, all students of the Youth League School jointly started a new year of learning and practice.

Under the oath led by Wang Yingying, a member of the Presidium of the Student Union, all of them recited the oath of joining the League.

Du Yu introduced the Implementation Plan of “Xiangyang” Youth League School of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information. He gave a detailed introduction to “Xiangyang” Youth League School from four aspects: main objectives, basic principles, class settings and work security. He said that “Xiangyang” Youth League School adheres to the leadership of the Party, runs the Party's theoretical knowledge and policies throughout the whole training process of the Youth League School, and constantly improves the ideological and political quality and practical ability of youth league members through skill learning and practical training.

In the witness of all the students, Guo Xiaoyu presented the flag to the new Youth League School, and Xing Jianing, the deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee, took over the flag, which symbolized that the baton was handed over to the new students of Youth League School.

Yu Xiaozhou made a speech. On behalf of the Party Committee and Youth League Committee of the School, she expressed warm congratulations to all the students who attended the Youth League School. She said that entering the Youth League School is an important platform for students to strengthen their political theory learning, and also a good opportunity to improve their overall ability. This year is the year of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Youth League of China, and the 70th anniversary of the founding of our University. The contemporary young students should live up to the prosperity of the times, be ambitious, and closely link their personal development pursuits with the future and destiny of the country. She put forward three requirements to the students: first, correct the motivation of learning, be strict with ourselves, and strive to be a model of learning; second, play a pioneering role and strictly abide by the training discipline; third, enhance our strengths and complement our weaknesses, deepen theoretical learning, enrich practical activities, and improve our overall quality, so that we can truly achieve fruitful results.

After the opening ceremony, the centralized teaching of the training class started.

In the political theory learning lecture unit, Liu Biao, the student party building instructor of the School, and Du Yu, the secretary of the Youth League Committee, gave training lectures entitled “Understanding the Party History and Firming Historical Confidence, Deeply Understanding the Spirit and Mastering Historical Initiative” and “A Century of Youth Movement under the Leadership of the Party” respectively. At the lecture, they focused on the study of the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, centered on the history of the Party, the history of New China and the history of the youth movement, and encouraged the students to shoulder the heavy responsibility given by the times, carry forward the spirit of historical initiative, and contribute their youthful power to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through vivid cases and in-depth explanations.

In the unit of working skill improvement, Xu Xiaokang, director of the Ideological and Theoretical Education Office of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of the University, Huo Shaomeng, counselor of the School of Earth Resources, and Wang Yan, counselor of the School of Engineering respectively gave training lectures entitled “Student Work Photography Practice”, “Injecting Craftsmanship, Finding the Original Aspiration - Practice and Understanding of Official Document Writing", and “A Few Tips for PPT Production”. In the class, they closely followed the problem orientation of student work, and gave detailed guidance to the students on innovating working methods and enhancing working skills from the practical perspective of photography and video, document writing and PPT production in combination with the basic characteristics and work practice of the student leaders of the Youth League Committee of this School.

After the training, Wang Sida, a student in charge of the “Xiangyang” Youth Volunteers Association of the School, said, “I will further increase my knowledge and refine my character in learning, increase my ability and develop my skills in practice, and take practical actions to fulfill the new mission given to our youth by the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.” Wang Lixin, a member of the presidium of the Student Union, said, “I have benefited a lot from the teachers’ lectures. In the future, I must be diligent in practicing, constantly summarize and reflect, exercise various work skills, and effectively improve the level and ability to serve my classmates.”

It is understood that during the practice and exploration of the last academic year, the “Xiangyang” Youth League School of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information insisted on the education and training of key league students, focused on ideological and political quality, highlighted the practice orientation, and continued to run five training classes, including Xiangyang Dream Class, Xiangyang Dream Chasing Class, Xiangyang Dream Realizing Class, Xiangyang Climbing Class, and Xiangyang Development Class. It has carried out rich and diversified training activities, and achieved good results. In this academic year, the Youth League School will continue to improve the working mechanism, strictly control the training quality, strengthen resource allocation and timely summarize and improve, so as to continue to escort the growth of youth and the training of student leaders.
