At 9:00 a.m. on October 23, the first session of excellent alumni experience sharing meeting on “Celebrating the Anniversary of CUG and Building the Future” was held in the Lecture Hall 301 of No. 2 Teaching Building. Zhu Yufeng, an alumnus of Grade 1994 and General Manager of Beijing Huacheng Zhixin Technology Co., Ltd, made a sharing on the theme of “Creating Value in Ordinary Work”. Qu Xianghua, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, and nearly 150 students attended the sharing session, which was hosted by Du Yu, secretary of the Youth League Committee.

Zhu Yufeng, who majored in mechanics of this School for both his bachelor and master’s degrees, shared his struggles in his studies at CUG. During his college years, Zhu Yufeng had excellent academic performance and actively participated in student work after class, holding many key positions in university-level student organizations and wwinning a number of scholarships and comprehensive honors. He talked about the importance of balancing professional learning and social practice, combining theoretical accumulation and  scientific and technological innovation, and the balance between career planning and personal ambitions, so as to achieve clear goals, proper attitudes, solid foundations and thorough understanding, and continuously improve our comprehensive quality and ability.

Zhu Yufeng analyzed in detail the current situation and achievements of the electromechanical industry, and elaborated on the development direction and prospects of the industry. Combining his rich experience in engineering projects and entrepreneurial experience, he talked about the methods and paths for electromechanical personnel to base themselves on the industry, integrate into the industry, study the industry and dedicate to the industry. He said that under the strategic background of “Made in China 2025”, the manufacturing industry is developing towards scale and automation, the industrial structure is constantly upgrading, and a green manufacturing system with low consumption and environmental protection is gradually being built. He urged the students to make the right choice when planning their careers by having a keen insight into the background of the times, paying attention to the market demand, and taking into consideration of their interests and skills.

During the communication and interaction, students asked questions enthusiastically. Zhu Yufeng encouraged all students to firstly, recognize the essence of life and keep objective and optimistic; secondly, consolidate and expand the circle of competence and keep the habit of learning; thirdly, attach importance to credit and maintain kindness and integrity. He called on the students to continue to uphold the spirit of the university motto of “hardworking and plain-living, being realistic and pragmatic”, and to strive to open up new fields and tracks for development with the vigor, so as to contribute to the national strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education.

Qu Xianghua, Secretary of the Party Committee, made a concluding speech. He said that Zhu Yufeng, encouraged the electromechanical youth of our School to work hard and forge ahead with his exemplary deeds. The students of our School should firmly take the baton passed on by excellent seniors and sisters, strengthen their ideals and beliefs, shoulder their responsibilities and missions, cultivate their excellent skills, work together and forge ahead, and contribute our wisdom to win the battle against key core technologies.

It is understood that the excellent alumni experience sharing meeting on “Celebrating the Anniversary of CUG and Building the Future” is one of the important activities of the School to celebrate the 70th anniversary of CUG, and is also a special theme of the School’s brand activity “My Growth in CUG”. The School will continue to invite outstanding alumni representatives to tell students stories about personal development, innovation and entrepreneurship, academic science and technology, to inspire teachers and students to make continuous efforts to realize the dream of “building a world-class university in the field of earth science”.
