On October 22, “Celebrating the 20th CPC National Congress and Forging Ahead to the Future at the 70th Anniversary of CUG”, the 2022 autumn teacher-student sports meeting of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information was grandly opened in the Playground of West Campus. The leaders of the School, the chairman of the trade union, the party branch secretaries and directors of all departments, graduate supervisors, undergraduate class teachers, teachers of the student affairs leading group and all students participated. The opening ceremony of the sports meeting was hosted by Du Yu, Secretary of the Youth League Committee.

At 8:00 in the morning, all teams began to enter. Facing the rising sun, under the guidance of the national flag and the School flag, all teams entered one after another in orderly formation.

All stood up and sang the national anthem.

Dean Ding Huafeng delivered a speech. He said that we should aim at improving physical quality and attach great importance to the important role played by physical education in promoting all-round development of human beings. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was successfully held, and the 70th anniversary of CUG is inspiring. Under the call of such an inspiring era, our young students should constantly improve their physical quality, cultivate their fighting spirit, and devote themselves to their studies and work with a better mental outlook and a more ambitious struggle attitude in such a prosperous era.

Wang Chenming, the athlete representative, took the oath. He promised to abide by the rules of the competition and the discipline of the sports meeting, adhere to the sporting style of “friendship first, competition second”, and compete to achieve results, level and height.

Xu Dongsheng, the referee representative, took the oath. He promised to strictly abide by the competition rules and referee discipline, to be fair and impartial and civilized.

In warm applause, Qu Xianghua, Secretary of the Party Committee, announced the official opening of the School sports meeting.

During the sports meeting, all the athletes were tenacious and brave and strived for the best; the referees strictly abided by the rules and regulations and were objective and fair; the staffs were loyal and dedicated; the teachers and students were in high spirits and cheered and applauded. This sports meeting is one of the series of activities to celebrate the 20th CPC National Congress and the 70th anniversary of the founding of CUG. It is not only a comprehensive review of the sports level of teachers and students of the School, but also a concentrated presentation of the positive and enterprising spirit of all teachers and students of the School.

The closing ceremony of the sports meeting was held at 6:30 p.m. on the same day in the West playground. At the closing ceremony, the award-winning athletes and classes were commended, and the records of the sports events were announced.

Yu Xiaozhou, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, made a concluding speech. On behalf of the School, she congratulated all the winning classes and athletes, and sent a message to all students that they should continue to carry forward the spirit of hard work, forge ahead, learn from and implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress with practical actions, and welcome the 70th anniversary of the university with excellent achievements.

At this point, the 2022 Autumn Sports Meeting of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information ended successfully. Teachers and students of the School said that at the time of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, they will also forge ahead on a new journey and make contributions to a new era with their youthful physique and vigorous spirit!
