Notice of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information on the Selection and Engagement of Undergraduate Class Teachers and Assistant Class Teachers for Grade 2022

All majors, teaching staff, and senior undergraduate students:

In order to welcome the new students of Grade 2022 and to further improve the education and management of students, according to the relevant provisions of the “Management Measures for Undergraduate Class Teachers of School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) (Trial)” [JDXZ [2019] No. 4] and in combination with the work needs, the School is now selecting and engaging undergraduate class teachers and assistant class teachers for Grade 2022 from all teaching staff and senior undergraduate students. The specific matters are notified as follows.

I. Targets and Position Setting

The School will select and engage 15 undergraduate class teachers for Grade 2022 from all the faculty and staff of the School, including 7 for mechanical majors (in principle, 5 for mechanical engineering and 2 for industrial design), and 8 for electronic information majors (in principle, 5 for telecommunication program and 3 for communication program), with the term of engagement of 4 years. Ensure that each new student class has a class teacher who is responsible for the education and management of the students in the class.

15 assistant class teachers for Grade 2022 will be selected and engaged from senior undergraduates of the School to assist the class teachers in carrying out the work related to the freshman class, with the term of engagement of 1 year.

II. Qualifications

1. Basic requirements for class teachers:

(1) Strong political quality. Uphold the four fundamental principles, support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, firmly establish the “Four Consciousnesses”, bolster “Four-sphere Confidence”, achieve the “Two Upholds”, implement the Party's education policy, and maintain a high degree of consistency with the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core in politics, thought and action.

(2) High business level. In principle, they should have the same or related discipline and professional background of their classes, have strong organizational leadership and communication and coordination skills, and be able to better handle the relationship between their own work and student work.

(3) Good moral character. The class teacher should have good conduct, have both ability and political integrity, care for students, and set an example, be passionate about student education and management, and have a high sense of responsibility and dedication.

(4) The School requires that young teachers who have joined in recent years and have not served as class teachers should apply to serve as class teachers, and encourages non-professional teachers to serve as class teachers.

(5) A class teacher can only be in charge of one class. Teachers who are currently serving as class teachers of non-graduating grade are not eligible to apply for 2022 undergraduate class teachers.

(6) Those who failed to pass the work assessment of class teacher in the previous year will not be appointed as head teachers this year in principle.

2. Basic requirements for assistant class teachers:

(1) Strong sense of responsibility, warm and friendly, with certain student work experience and dedication, priority for CPC members (including probationary Party members).

(2) Excellent academic performance and ample force, good physical condition, able to ensure the corresponding working hours.

(3) Obedience to arrangements, strong organizational sense, outstanding ability, strong organizational and coordination skills, language skills, text processing skills, and the ability to complete work tasks as required.

(4) In principle, the major should be in the same category as the major of the class.

III. Procedure

1. Class teachers are selected and engaged in accordance with the following procedures: individual application - discussion and recommendation of candidates by each major – examination and determination by the School.

(1) Individual application. The applicants are requested to fill in the "Application Form for Class Teacher of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information" (see Annex 1) and submit it to the corresponding major by July 11, 2022.

(2) Discussion and recommendation of candidates by each major. After receiving the individual applications, each major will review the qualifications of the applicant teachers, discuss and determine the number of class teachers required according to the major category, and submit the recommended equal number of candidates to the Student Affairs Leading Group of the School by July 18, 2022.

(3) The Student Affairs Leading Group of the School will discuss the recommended candidates, determine the list of selected class teachers, and report the engagement results to the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee for approval, and issue the appointment letters at the undergraduate commencement ceremony of the School.

2. The assistant class teachers are selected and engaged in accordance with the following procedures: individual application - discussion and recommendation of candidates by Student Affairs Leading Group – examination and determination by the School. Please fill out the "Application Form for Assistant Class Teacher of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information" (see Annex 2) and send it to 243158365@qq.com by July 11, 2022. The Student Affairs Leading Group will examine the qualifications and discuss the recommended candidates, and then assign them to each new student class after approval by the Student Affairs Leading Group of the School.

IV. Requirements and Guarantee Support

1. All engaged class teachers should work strictly in accordance with relevant requirements of the “Management Measures for Undergraduate Class Teachers of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) (Trial)” [JDXZ [2019] No. 4] and the “Evaluation Index System for Undergraduate Class Teachers of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information (Revised)” [JDXZ [2021] No. 2]. The School will integrate the training and assessment of class teachers into the student workforce construction system, and pay class teacher allowances and awards according to the requirements of the University and the work assessment. All majors should provide necessary working conditions for class teachers to perform their duties.

2. All engaged assistant class teachers shall assist in the work of the grade counselor and the corresponding class teacher in accordance with the work requirements. The School will carry out relevant work training and assessment for assistant class teachers and give them a certain amount of work allowance. Those who are excellent in assessment will be recommended to participate in all kinds of merit evaluation.
