On October 21, the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information carried out the League Day Activity with the Theme of "The Singer of Heroes - Tracing the Red Footprints of Veterans of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea" in Room 301 of No. 2 Teaching Building. This activity was lectured by Xu Zhuosi, a part-time counselor of the Student Affairs Leading Group, organized by Ding Yufeng, a teacher of the Student Affairs Leading Group, and the Organization Department of the Youth League Committee of our school, hosted by Liu Qiang, a member of the Organization Department. 07D203, 07D202, 07J215 and 07J216 league branches attended the activity.

At the beginning, all the members sang the league song under the leadership of Liu Qiang and recited the league pledge.

After that, the speaker, Xu Zhuosi, led the audience to get closer to the ordinary hero, Wang Huicun, through telling the real story, playing related videos and showing first-hand photos, to feel the charm of her personality of spending her life spreading the voice of the Red, and to clarify the meaning of promoting the spirit of anti-American aid by telling the red deeds of Wang Huicun.

First, Xu Zhuosi briefly introduced the general situation of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and the Battle of Shanganling by means of video and data import.

Then, Xu Zhuosi played a video about Wang Huicun, a retired teacher of our school who participated in the Battle of Shangganling in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. Thereafter, she told in detail five red stories about Wang Huicun: the soul of the battlefield, forging the red heart; artillery fire, rescuing the wounded on the first line; crossing the blockade, meeting with Qiu Shaoyun; teaching, inheriting the red gene; practicing the mission of party members after retirement. She showed the fearless spirit of the national heroes who were brave and tenacious, who sacrificed their lives to die, and marveled at the superb cohesion of the Chinese people who worked together and fought together, and interpreted the spirit of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea from small details.

Xu Zhuosi said that we could learn the following points from the ordinary hero Wang Huicun. First, we should be dedicated and step forward when the country and people need us. Second, we should have the spirit of struggle. We should have a clear understanding of difficulties, be brave enough to meet them and not be overwhelmed by them. Third, we should have the spirit of commitment. As young people in the new era, we must live up to the ardent expectations of the party and the state, and strive to master hard skills.

Finally, Xu Zhuosi played her video about Wang Huicun's story in "Understanding China" to review the contents of the whole class. She said that remembering the martyrs was to give an account to the forefathers, promoting the spirit was to give an account to the times, and ideological mobilization and preparation for the struggle was to give an account to history and future generations. She hoped everyone could bring the stories of these ordinary heroes to more people. They deserved to be heard.

Ding Yufeng affirmed and summarized this theme league day activity. He shared his feelings after listening to the lecture and encouraged students to have "romantic" feelings in their daily study and life; to learn from history and further study the history of the development of the Party and the country; to learn the heroic spirit, everyone can become an "ordinary hero" in life.

After the class, the students filled out a questionnaire. Analyzing the questionnaires, we learned that the class was well received, and most of the students expressed their support for the class in this form, which was not only fruitful, but also gave them a deeper understanding of the history and of the spirit the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and strengthened their determination to learn from the heroes.
