In order to conscientiously study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the celebration of the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), implement the decision-making arrangements for “learning the party history, strengthening faith and following the party” of CUG, and improve the political awareness and service ability of the backbone students, on September 10, 2021, the Youth League Committee of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information held a special seminar on studying the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s “July 1” speech at Room 502 of No. 2 Teaching Building. The seminar was presided over by Du Yu, secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee, with the participation of the presidium members of the Student Union and Graduate Union, and the heads of the functional departments of the Communist Youth League Committee and league organizations.

First of all, the participants watched the video of Xi Jinping's “July 1” speech; combined with the conference materials, they focused on studying General Secretary Xi's important speech on youth, and discussed how to fully implement the spirit of the conference in the youth league work.
Then, the heads of all departments exchanged ideas on the spirit of the meeting in combination with the self-study achievements in the early stage.
Yang Chenhao, a member of the presidium of the Student Union, said that the spirit that was most worthy of our young generation to study was contained in the centennial journey of the Party. Only by learning from history can we create the future. As student workers, we should learn from the history of the Party, study hard, serve our classmates, and have faith in our hearts and strength under our feet.
Liu Jinrun, a member of the Presidium of the Graduate Union, said that studying the spirit of the “July 1” speech made him more firm in his communist ideals and beliefs and more determined to listen to and follow the Party.
Yan Yingying, deputy student Secretary of the Youth League Committee, said that as a member of the youth, we should further strengthen our ideals and beliefs, enrich our knowledge, widely collect and apply what we have learned. As a member of the backbone of students, we should burn the fire of youth, raise the sail of youth, always serve our classmates with sincere heart, and integrate the struggle of youth into the cause of the Party and the people.
Ding Ying, Head of the Department of Information and Publicity, said that by studying the spirit of the “July 1” speech, she understood that as young students, we should inherit and carry forward the spirit of old party members who were not afraid of sacrifice, strict with themselves, down-to-earth and hard-working, learn professional knowledge, enhance our own skills, and contribute to the scientific and technological undertakings of the motherland. As student cadres, we should have a deep understanding of the difficulties and needs of the students around us, be brave in dedication and responsibility, and contribute to the construction of the school.
Xing Jianing, head of the Student Science and Technology Innovation Center, said that there was no shortage of young people in Chinese history, and China would be cast by young people in the future. As a student worker, we needed to make it clear that “I’m a builder of the powerful nation” was not an empty slogan, but we should set a good example, study hard and consciously assume the responsibilities given by the times.

After that, Du Yu put forward some suggestions on how to put the spirit of the “July 1” speech into the daily work of the League organizations. He said that General Secretary Xi’s important speech was not only a shot in the arm for grass-roots League cadres, but also a beacon for their work. In their future study work, he hoped we would continue to implement the following three aspects: first, deeply cultivate the responsibility field led by ideology and politics and make efforts to strengthen the new journey and new responsibilities; second, focus on the demand side of youth development and make efforts to forge a new journey and struggle; third, respond to the assembly number of scientific and technological powers and make efforts to promote the new journey and new achievements. Du Yu emphasized that all departments should act positively and think actively; communicate with each other and be brave in undertaking; implement the requirements with good quality and quantity; seek the source and be brave in innovation. The backbone of students should apply the spirit of the “July 1” speech to their work and strengthen the idea of serving their classmates.
Finally, the meeting discussed the goals and plans of the League organizations this semester, and arranged the key tasks for the next period of time.
