【News】Vice President Liu Jie Delivered the “First Lesson after Returning” for Teachers and Students of the School of Environmental Studies and School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information

On the evening of June 25, Liu Jie, member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President, met with the returned students and graduates of the School of Environmental Studies and School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information through the “Cloud” to teach the "First class after returning" with the theme of "Telling a good story about China’s fight against the epidemic – promoting the core socialist values". Jiang Huailiu, deputy director of the Office of Student Affairs, and nearly 300 teachers, returned students and graduates from the two schools participated in the online learning.

The activity was presided over by Yu Xiaozhou, deputy Party secretary of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information.

In the class, Liu Jie elaborated the reasons for the decisive achievements in epidemic prevention and control in China from three aspects: the course of anti epidemic in Wuhan, the story of China’s fight against the epidemic and China’s strength, the spirit in fight against the epidemic and the promotion of socialist core values, and profoundly expounded the internal relationship between the spirit in fight against the epidemic and the promotion of core socialist values. He pointed out that after the outbreak of the epidemic, under the firm leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, an efficient command system with unified, command, coordination and dispatching by the central government and a strict prevention and control system with the participation of the whole people were rapidly established, which provided a solid organizational guarantee for winning the fight against the epidemic. The people have shouldered their responsibilities and given full support to Hubei Province and Wuhan City in the fight against the epidemic, which fully reflected the cultural background of the Chinese nation to help each other fight together in the epidemic, as well as the profound feelings of the Chinese people. The teachers and students of our University have demonstrated their mission and responsibility in the epidemic prevention and control, and have made great contributions to win the fight against the epidemic.

Liu Jie pointed out that the spirit in fight against the epidemic was the inheritance and development of the traditional gene of the Chinese national spirit, and it is also the embodiment of implementing the socialist core values. The people of all ethnic groups in China have stood and fought together, have shown their patriotic feelings for home and country, the political character of the people's supremacy, their belief in fighting to win, their scientific and realistic practical spirit, their social awareness of unity and cooperation, and their sense of great harmony in the interests of the world in the whole process of epidemic prevention and control. The national spirit with patriotism as the core and the spirit of the times with reform and innovation as the core advocated by the core socialist values have been well demonstrated and carried forward in the fight.

Liu Jie hoped that all students could learn the spirit in the fight against the epidemic, tell good stories about the fight, and further cultivate and implement the core socialist values. He wished all graduates success and a bright future! In the meanwhile, he expected that the graduates should be grateful to the motherland and serve the motherland with practical actions, have the ambition to devote themselves to serving the society and actively participate in the construction of socialist cause with practical actions, and should improve themselves and take the initiative in the unity of knowledge and practice.
