School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information Holds New Year Symposium for Student Cadres

(Reported by Luo Caiwei) On the afternoon of Jan. 7, the New Year Symposium for Student Cadres of School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information was held in Room 308, No. 2 Teaching Building. Qu Xianghua, the Secretary of Party Committee of this School, Yu Xiaozhou, the deputy secretary of Party Committee of this School, all counselors of Student Affairs Leading Group and the cadres from student organizations gathered together happily and talked about the New Year. Du Yu presided the symposium.

Du Yu, the Secretary of the Youth League Committee of this School, extended greetings to the cadre representatives of the student organizations. He said that Year 2019 was an extraordinary year. In the past one year, all of us united as one, worked together, accomplished the relevant work tasks and made some achievements. He hoped to strengthen the exchanges among the student organizations and continue making process in the new year in manner of symposium.  

In the symposium, Wang Panpan as a representative of the secretaries of the Party branches, shared the work of the current student party members, and proposed that the student party members should have a sense of responsibility and dedication; at the same time she put forward the suggestions to strengthen the assessment system of the class committee. Wang Xuewei, Director of Party Member Education Section of Student Party Construction Office, based on her student work experience, expounded the importance of the section planning and construction, and made suggestions on how to do a good job of joining the party. Chen Xi, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee, proposed to strengthen the training on students' work skills, improve work ability and efficiency, and hoped to perfect the recognition mechanism of voluntary duration of the volunteers and the work encourage mechanism of the student cadres. Yan Xilin, the Vice Chairman of Student Union, proposed to increase publicity on student issues in the past year, and proposed that student activities should be closer to the students. Sun Yunhe, the Vice Chairman of Postgraduate Union proposed that the integrated management of the undergraduates and the postgraduates and the special management of the postgraduates should pay attention to the practical situation and flexible management and suggested adjusting the bedtime inspection time. Li Mei, the Director of Operation Section of Media Center, introduced the functions of the media center and suggested that each student organization should promote communication and interaction, form a resultant force and jointly enhanced the publicity and influence of the School. Li Qinfei, Director of Undergraduate Graduation Committee, from a monitor’s perspective, expounded the burnout feeling in the class committee and how to motivate the student cadres. She also proposed the idea of inheriting and innovating the work of Undergraduate Graduation Committee. Wu Zhao, Director of Postgraduate Graduation Committee, based on the mental health of the postgraduates, suggested strengthening the prevention and response measures for the mental problems of the postgraduates.  

Representatives of cadres from different student organizations spoke at the symposium, teachers and students talked with each other kindly. They put forward corresponding opinions and suggestions on the problems exposed at this stage, and proposed new ideas for the work in the new year.

At the symposium, Yu Xiaozhou pointed out that the priority should given to the learning of the students. While ensuring academic performance, improving personal comprehensive ability and stress resistance had become a compulsory extracurricular course for current undergraduates. The student cadres should have great vision and sensibility. For the students' affairs, we should promote publicity and awareness, and improve personal writing skills. She proposed that the student cadres should make sure three-hardworking: foot hardworking: work hard for communication and exchange; hand hardworking: work hard for planning and summarization; brain hardworking: work hard for thinking and innovation.

At the end of the symposium, Qu Xianghua gave a speech. He affirmed the speeches of the representatives of the student organizations. He also pointed out that the questions raised during the symposium imposed new thinking and directions for the student affairs in the future. He shared the work deeds of previous student cadres after graduation and explained the importance of the student work to the personal growth and development. The student cadres should change the working method with the times. Nothing can be accomplished without norms or standards. Strictness in CUG should lay stress on strict management and deep love. He hoped that both teachers and students should make joint efforts to accelerate the student work in this School, improve the style of study, strengthen the working habits and ways  of the School and make greater achievements in the coming year.
