An Academic Report Delivered by Professor Shen Ping, a Fellow of the Optical Society of America

On October 7, Professor Shen Ping, a fellow of the Optical Society of America delivered an academic report entitled “Lectures on Science and Engineering Innovation Methods”. The seminar was presided over by Mr. Wu Zhichao, and teachers and graduate students of the School attended the seminar.

Professor Shen Ping, a candidate of the National Talent Program, OSA Fellow, SPIE Fellow and the global vice chairman of IEEE Photonics Society, has published more than 900 papers and served as the president of large international conferences such as CLEO-PR 2017, and is the sponsor of OGC, PGC, ICOCN, ICAIT and other international conferences. His research fields include silicon photonics, optical fiber intelligent sensing technology and high-power optical fiber laser technology.

The report focused on the science and engineering innovation technology and application. Professor Shen Ping introduced the process and application of innovative technology from five aspects: innovation and invention, open and closed innovation, bringing innovation to the market, followers and leaders, and imitative innovation. He also showed us how to apply innovative technology to enterprise through examples. At the invitation of Professor Shen Ping, Lian Zhenggang, Chief Technology Officer of Yangtze Optical Electronic Co., Ltd, shared his experience in innovation and entrepreneurship. He told the students that innovation had a great influence on enterprises, and innovation was not out of reach but was reflected in all aspects of daily life. Finally, he encouraged the students to stimulate innovative consciousness and active innovative thinking.

The report was rich in content and original in views, which broadened our pattern and vision. The seminar came to a successful conclusion with the warm applause of the students.
