Invited by Professor Ding Huafeng, the dean of School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, Professor Hamid Reza Karimi from Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy paid a visit to this school and made an academic lecture titled “Control and Multi-Actuation of Structural Vibrational Systems” on Dec. 31, 2019. This lecture was presided by Teacher Ge Mingfeng, Deputy Dean Luo Jie, Teacher Wang Yuansheng, Lei Bo and Gan Jinqiang and the graduates attended the academic lecture.
Dr. Hamid Reza Karimi, a professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering of Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy, acts as the editor-in-chief and the deputy editor-in-chief of many international mainstream journals, including Journal of Cyber-Physical Systems, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems-I: Regular Papers, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics: Systems. He has published over 500 papers and reports, with H-factor of 70, and had been evaluated as the ESI highly-cited scientist from 2016 to 2019. He has mainly made the research on sliding mode control, vibrational Systems, vehicle control system and energy power system and so on.
Professor Karimi briefly introduced the actual background of mechanical and structural vibration and control over complex engineering, took the vibration control of the high-rise building as an example and proposed various vibration control strategies in the manner of distributivity and centeralization based on LMI optimization method through three kinds of drive manners including passive drive, active drive and semi-active drive, drew the horizontal comparison between the control effects from different strategies and forecast the future application outlook of the proposed drive manner and control strategies.
After the lecture, Professor Karimi discussed how to write the high quality academic papers with the teachers and the students and answered in detail the professional questions proposed by the students. The lecture by Professor Karimi explained the profound things in a simple way, brought along many new academic thoughts and widened the academic vision of the attendant teachers and students. Both of them benefited from it.
