Second-round Examination and Admission Program for Receiving the Recommended Exam-free Candidates in 2023 of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan)

 

In accordance with the spirit of the “Program for Receiving the Recommended Exam-free Candidates in 2023 of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan)” (ZDDYF [2022] No. 49), this program is hereby formulated for the purpose of successfully completing the second-round examination and admission of the recommended exam-free candidates in 2023.

I. Guidelines

Guided by Xi Jinping’s socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era, we must focus on the fundamental task of implementing the moral education of the people, firmly establish the quality awareness, actively serve the development needs of the nation, take quality improvement as the core, adhere to the principle of “taking morality first, comprehensively measuring morality, intelligence and physique, and selecting the best”, strive to strengthen scientific selection, further promote information disclosure, constantly strengthen supervision and management, and earnestly and strictly enforce admission discipline, so as to ensure that the second-round examination and admission of the recommended exam-free candidates are scientific, fair, standardized and transparent.

III. Application Conditions

1. Citizens of the People's Republic of China, who uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China, have good moral character, abide by laws and observe discipline, and are physically and mentally healthy.

2. The applicant must be a fresh graduate with the recommended exam-free qualification, and obtain the recommended exam-free qualification from the university where he/she studies, and provide complete recommendation procedures and complete materials.

3. During the undergraduate period, the applicant should achieve excellent academic performance, be honest and trustworthy, has correct style of study and no record of cheating in exams, plagiarizing other people’s academic achievements and other violations of laws and disciplines.

4. Our school welcomes and encourages outstanding students to continue their studies in our school in the form of bachelor-PhD or master-PhD. Bachelor-PhD based candidates shall be included in the supervisor’s doctoral admission quota in 2023; the master-PhD candidate shall study for two years as the master candidate and then shall be transferred to doctoral candidate after passing the examination. The applicant should first contact the doctoral supervisor to confirm his/her acceptance intention.

(1) Selection conditions and procedures for bachelor-PhD candidates

Selection conditions: the candidates should have excellent undergraduate academic performance; pass CET-6, or pass TOEFL and IELTS, or have more than three months experience in studying abroad, or have published English papers as the first author; have certain scientific research experience and won national discipline competition awards, or publish academic papers in regional journals of T5 and above, or obtain authorized national invention patents.

Selection procedures: The candidates who have the qualification for academic exemption from examination should apply before the second-round examination (indicated on the second-round examination form). After passing the second-round examination with the consent of the doctoral supervisor, they will be reported to the graduate school without objection. When the “exam-free recommendation service system” of the Ministry of Education is opened, the candidates should complete the system registration and admission, and the application type should be “bachelor-PhD candidate”.

(2) Selection conditions and procedures for master-PhD candidates

Selection conditions: the candidates should have excellent undergraduate academic performance; pass CET-6, or pass TOEFL and IELTS, or have more than three months experience in studying abroad, or have published English papers as the first author; have certain scientific research experience and achievements, or obtain authorized national invention patents.

Selection procedures: The candidates with recommended exam-free qualification should apply before the second-round examination (indicated on the second-round examination form). After passing the second-round examination with the consent of the doctoral supervisor, they will be reported to the graduate school without objection.

 

IV. Receiving Procedure

1. Pre-registration. Candidates with recommended exam-free qualification should apply in the Pre-registration System for Recommended Exam-free Candidates before 7:00am on Sept. 23, 2022.

2. Submit the application materials. Candidates should send the scanned copies of the following materials (combined into a PDF document) to 1621081289@qq.com before 7:00am on Sept. 23, 2022, with the package file name of “name - name of undergraduate school - name of registered major”.

① Scanned copy of the original of the second generation resident ID card and student card;

②Scanned copy of the original academic report card (with the official seal of the Academic Affairs Department of the University);

③ Scanned copies of other supporting materials (such as transcripts of CET-4 and CET-6, award-winning certificates, academic papers, publications or original work achievements, etc.).

3. Review of materials. Our School will review and comment on the materials of the applicants and determine the list of second-round examination. Before Sept. 23, our School will send the notice of second-round examination to the qualified applicants in batches.

4. Second-round examination. The applicants who agree to participate in the second-round examination should attend the examination on time according to the requirements.

5. Complete the admission procedures. On the day of the opening of the national online registration for recommended exam-free candidates, the candidates log into the “exam-free recommendation service system” of China Graduate Admission Information Network (hereinafter referred to as “Graduate Admission Network”) to complete their personal information and fill in major choice; the School will send the second-round examination notice and the notice of waiting for admission to the candidates. The candidates must log in the “exam-free recommendation service system” to “accept the notice of waiting for admission” within 24 hours after the reception of the notice, otherwise, the School can cancel the admission qualification. The list of candidates to be accepted will be included in the formal admission list after being publicized without objection, and they will no longer participate in the unified examination.

6. For the candidates who have not participated in the pre-registration or second-round examination, but directly apply for our School in the “exam-free recommendation service system” of graduate admission network, our School will take online video interview and on-site interview in multiple batches to conduct the second-round examination. The candidates must receive the second-round examination notice and the notice of waiting for admission in time, and complete the whole online operation process of “exam-free recommendation service system”.

 

V. Second-round Examination

1. Objects of second-round examination

All pre-registered recommended exam-free candidates from our University and other universities. Candidates who have obtained a qualified report card on campus open day are not required to participate in the second-round examination.

2. Qualification examination

Our School will strictly check the candidates’ application information according to the materials, and strictly examine the candidates’ application qualifications according to the receiving conditions.

3. Form of second-round examination

Our School will take a combination of online remote interview and on-site interview for second-round examination.

4. Time second-round examination

The date for second-round examination is September 25, and the specific time and method will be further notified by the School when confirming the list for second-round examination. QQ group (Group No.: 745124560).

5. Content of second-round examination

The content focuses on the examinee’s knowledge structure, the ability to comprehensively utilized knowledge and the potential for scientific research and innovation, generally no less than 15 minutes.

(1) Professional ability and comprehensive quality interview (full score: 100, weight: 80%)

It comprehensively assesses the candidates’ mastery of the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the discipline (major), their ability to discover, analyze and solve problems by using the theories they have learned, their understanding of the development trends of the discipline and the development potential in the professional field, the innovative spirit, innovation ability and comprehensive quality, etc.

(2) Foreign language listening and speaking (full score: 100, weight: 20%)

It examines their listening and speaking ability in foreign language.

 

VI. Admission 

1. Result of second-round examination

The second-round examination is scored in 100 points system. Score of second-round examination = professional ability and comprehensive quality interview score *0.8 + score of foreign language listening and speaking*0.2

2. Admission rules

The admission list of recommended exam-free candidates shall be determined according to the admission program of the each major and the total scores of the candidates. Those who fail to pass the second-round examination, or fail to pass the physical examination will not be accepted.

3. Tuition and grants

In the first year, all the recommended exam-free candidates will enjoy the first-class scholarship for master’s degree. After that, they will be evaluated dynamically according to their academic performance and scientific research performance. Bachelor-PhD candidates will enjoy doctoral scholarships and grants. As for master-PhD candidates, before obtaining the state registered doctoral student status, the “Academic Scholarship” shall implement the first-class academic award standard for master, and the “State Grants” and “Academic Grants” shall implement the doctoral standard.

4. Preferential policies

The recommended exam-free candidates who are admitted to this School for master's degree can enjoy a scholarship of RMB 10,000 (RMB 5,000 awarded by the School and RMB 5,000 by the supervisor).

IX. Miscellaneous

1. The applicant must guarantee the authenticity and accuracy of the application materials submitted. Once the information submitted by the applicant is found to be untrue or inaccurate, our School will not accept or cancel the admission qualification

2. Even the candidates are accepted by our university, the admission qualification will be cancelled if they fail to obtain the undergraduate graduation certificate at the time of entrance registration.
