The master of engineering degree program in electronic and communication engineering was approved in 2005. In recent years, the degree program has gradually established a discipline team composed of 7 professors and 27 associate professors, including one provincial famous teacher, and formed a characteristic scientific research team mainly composed of young and middle-aged backbone teachers. Since 2013, the program has published more than 70 high-level papers, received the total funds of 9,743,500 Yuan from projects, and obtained more than 60 national invention patents and utility model patents, so the scientific research level and achievements have been significantly improved. After years of accumulation, more than 20 people have taken part-time academic positions in organizations or served as reviewers of important international journals, and more than 10 teachers have provided technical support and solutions for enterprises.

Combined with the characteristics of China University of Geosciences, the master degree program focuses on the application research of signal processing, communication system integration, intelligent instrument research and development, and sensor network technology in the fields of geology, environment and resources. After years of development and accumulation, the intersection and integration of information science and earth science has become the discipline characteristics and advantages of this program, forming a graduate course system with certain characteristics, building a number of professional laboratories and Industry-University-Research bases, and improving the teaching staff and personnel training system. It has trained a number of outstanding talents in electronics and communication engineering specialized in information processing and information technology, communication system design, wireless sensor network and digital system design.

Based on market orient, the master program has been strengthening the guidance of students’ career planning and the cultivation of engineering practice ability, so as to continuously improve students’ employment advantages. Accordingly, it has been continuously improved and perfected the curriculum setting, process control of training quality and joint training between schools and enterprises. The employment rate of full-time professional postgraduates who graduated from the program reached 100%.
